KUNGAKHATHALISEKI ukuthi igama elithi “isihogo” likwenza ucabange ngani, isihogo ngokuvamile sibhekwa njengendawo yokujeziselwa isono. Lapho likhuluma ngesono nomphumela waso, iBhayibheli lithi: “Ngomuntu oyedwa isono sangena ezweni nokufa kwangena ngesono, futhi kanjalo ukufa kwasakazekela kubantu bonke ngenxa yokuthi bonke bonile.” (Roma 5:12) ImiBhalo ithi futhi: “Inkokhelo isono esiyikhokhayo iwukufa.” (Roma 6:23) Njengoba isijeziso sesono siwukufa, umbuzo oyisisekelo ekutholeni lokho isihogo esiyikho ngempela uwukuthi: Kwenzekani kithi lapho sifa?

Ingabe ukuphila kohlobo oluthile kuyaqhubeka ngemva kokufa? Siyini isihogo, futhi luhlobo luni lwabantu abaya kuso? Likhona yini ithemba ngalabo abasesihogweni? IBhayibheli linikeza izimpendulo eziyiqiniso nezanelisayo kule mibuzo.

Kukhona Ukuphila Ngemva Kokufa?

Ingabe kunokuthile okungaphakathi kithi, njengomphefumulo noma umoya, okusindayo lapho umzimba ufa? Cabanga indlela umuntu wokuqala, u-Adamu, aba khona ngayo. IBhayibheli lithi: “UJehova uNkulunkulu wambumba umuntu ngomhlabathi, waphefumulela emakhaleni akhe umoya wokuphila.” (Genesise 2:7) Nakuba ukuphefumula kwakumgcina ephila, ukufakwa “umoya wokuphila” emakhaleni akhe kwakuhilela okungaphezu kokumane afuthwe ngomoya ungene emaphashini. Kwakusho ukuthi uNkulunkulu wafaka emzimbeni ka-Adamu ongaphili inhlansi yokuphila—“amandla okuphila” akuzo zonke izidalwa zasemhlabeni. (Genesise 6:17; 7:22, NW) IBhayibheli libiza la mandla aphilisayo ngokuthi “umoya.” (Jakobe 2:26) Lowo moya ungafaniswa namandla kagesi enza umshini noma ithuluzi elithile lisebenze, likwazi ukwenza umsebenzi walo. Njengoba nje lo gesi ungabi nezici zento oyenza isebenze, amandla okuphila awabi nezici zezidalwa azenza ziphile. Awanabuntu noma ikhono lokucabanga.

Kwenzekani ngomoya lapho umuntu efa? IHubo 146:4 lithi: “Umoya wakhe uyaphuma, yena abuyele emhlabathini wakhe; ngalona lolo suku amacebo akhe ayaphela.” Lapho umuntu efa, umoya wakhe ongeyena umuntu awuqhubeki uphila kwenye indawo njengesidalwa somoya. ‘Ubuyela kuNkulunkulu owawunikayo.’ (UmShumayeli 12:7) Lokhu kusho ukuthi noma yimaphi amathemba alo muntu esikhathi esizayo asesezandleni zikaNkulunkulu ngokuphelele.

Izazi zefilosofi zasendulo ezingamaGreki uSocrates noPlato zazikholelwa ukuthi umphefumulo ongakaphathi komuntu uyasinda ekufeni futhi awusoze wafa. IBhayibheli lifundisani ngomphefumulo? UGenesise 2:7 uthi u-Adamu “waba . . . umphefumulo ophilayo.” Akanikwanga umphefumulo; wayewumphefumulo—umuntu ogcwele. ImiBhalo ikhuluma ngomphefumulo owomile, ofisa ukudla, owembelwa umgodi, okhala ngosizi, njalonjalo. (Numeri 11:6; Duteronomi 12:20; IHubo 35:7; 119:28) Yebo, umuntu ngokwakhe ungumphefumulo. Lapho umuntu efa, lowo mphefumulo uyafa.—Hezekeli 18:4.

Bakusiphi-ke isimo abafileyo? Lapho egweba u-Adamu, uJehova wathi: “Ungumhlabathi, uyakuphenduka umhlabathi.” (Genesise 3:19) Wayekuphi u-Adamu ngaphambi kokuba uNkulunkulu ambumbe ngothuli lomhlabathi futhi amenze aphile? Wayengekho! Lapho efa, u-Adamu wabuyela kuleso simo sokungabi nhlobo nokuphila. Isimo sabafileyo sicacisiwe kumShumayeli 9:5, 10, lapho sifunda khona ukuthi: “Abafileyo abazi lutho. . . . Akukho msebenzi, namcabango, nakwazi, nakuhlakanipha endaweni yabafileyo, lapho uya khona.” NgokwemiBhalo, ukufa kuwukungabi bikho. Abafileyo abazi lutho, abanamizwa namicabango.

Ukuhlushwa Okungapheli Noma Ithuna Elivamile?

Njengoba abafileyo bengezwa lutho, isihogo asinakuba yindawo evuthayo lapho ababi behlushwa khona ngemva kokuba befile. Pho siyini isihogo? Ukuhlola lokho okwenzeka kuJesu ngemva kokuba efile kuyosisiza siphendule lowo mbuzo. Umlobi weBhayibheli uLuka uthi: “[UJesu] akashiywanga eHayidese [esihogweni, ngokwe-King James Version] futhi inyama yakhe ayikubonanga ukonakala.” * (IzEnzo 2:31) Sasikuphi isihogo okwaya kuso ngisho noJesu? Umphostoli uPawulu wabhala: “Ngadlulisela kini . . . ukuthi ngokwemiBhalo uKristu wafela izono zethu; nokuthi wangcwatshwa, yebo, ukuthi ngokwemiBhalo uvusiwe ngosuku lwesithathu.” (1 Korinte 15:3, 4) Ngakho uJesu wayesesihogweni, ethuneni, kodwa akashiywanga lapho, ngoba wavuswa.

Cabanga nangendaba yendoda elungile enguJobe, eyahlupheka kakhulu. Lapho ifisa ukuphuma osizini lwayo, yanxusa: “Ubani ozonginika lokhu, ukuba ungivikele esihogweni [eSheyoli], ungifihle luze ludlule ulaka lwakho?” * (Jobe 14:13, Douay Version) Yeka indlela okungenangqondo ngayo ukucabanga ukuthi uJobe wayefisa ukuya endaweni evutha umlilo ayovikeleka khona! KuJobe, “isihogo” sasimane nje siyithuna, lapho ayengeke esahlupheka khona. Ngakho, isihogo saseBhayibhelini yithuna elivamile lesintu lapho kuya khona abantu abalungile nababi.

Isihogo Somlilo—Ingabe Siqothula Konke?

Kungenzeka yini ukuthi umlilo wesihogo ufanekisela ukubhujiswa okuqothula konke noma okungashiyi lutho? Ngendlela ehlukanisa umlilo neHayidese, noma isihogo, imiBhalo ithi: “Ukufa neHayidese kwajikijelwa echibini lomlilo.” “Ichibi” okukhulunywa ngalo lapha lingokomfanekiso, ngoba ukufa nesihogo (iHayidese) okuphonswa kulo akunakushiswa ngokoqobo. “Lokhu [ichibi lomlilo] kusho ukufa kwesibili”—ukufa okungayi lubuyayo kukho.—IsAmbulo 20:14.

Ichibi lomlilo lisho okufanayo ‘neGehena lomlilo [isihogo somlilo, iBhayibheli lesiZulu Elivamile]’ uJesu akhuluma ngalo. (Mathewu 5:22; Marku 9:47, 48) Elithi Gehena livela izikhathi ezingu-12 emiBhalweni YamaKristu YesiGreki, futhi lisho isigodi sakwaHinomu, esasingaphandle kwezingange zeJerusalema. Lapho uJesu esemhlabeni, lesi sigodi sasiyindawo kadoti, “lapho kwakulahlwa khona izidumbu zezigelekeqe, nezilwane ezifile, nakho konke okunye ukungcola.” (Smith’s Dictionary of the Bible) Kwakufakwa isibabule ukuze umlilo wokushisa udoti uhlale uvutha. UJesu wasebenzisa leso sigodi njengophawu olufanelekayo lokubhujiswa kwaphakade.

NjengeGehena, ichibi lomlilo lifanekisela ukubhujiswa kwaphakade. Ukufa neHayidese ‘kujikijelwa’ kulo ngomqondo wokuthi kuyosuswa lapho isintu sesikhululiwe esonweni nasekulahlweni ngokufa. Izoni zangamabomu ezingaphenduki nazo ziyoba ‘nesabelo’ kulelo chibi. (IsAmbulo 21:8) Nazo ziyobhujiswa phakade. Ngakolunye uhlangothi, labo abasenkumbulweni kaNkulunkulu abasesihogweni—ithuna elivamile lesintu—banekusasa elimangalisayo.

Isihogo Siyogeqwa!

IsAmbulo 20:13 sithi: “Ulwandle lwakhipha abafileyo ababekulo, nokufa neHayidese kwakhipha abafileyo ababekukho.” Yebo, isihogo saseBhayibhelini siyogeqwa. Njengoba uJesu athembisa, “ihora liyeza lapho bonke abasemathuneni ayisikhumbuzo beyozwa khona izwi [likaJesu] futhi baphume.” (Johane 5:28, 29) Nakuba zingasaphili nhlobo, izigidi zabafileyo ezisenkumbulweni kaJehova uNkulunkulu ziyovuswa, noma zibuyiselwe ekuphileni, epharadesi elibuyiselwe lasemhlabeni.—Luka 23:43; IzEnzo 24:15.

Ezweni elisha likaNkulunkulu, abantu abavusiwe abayozivumelanisa nemithetho yakhe yokulunga akusoze kudingeke baphinde bafe. (Isaya 25:8) UJehova “uyosula zonke izinyembezi emehlweni [abo], futhi ukufa ngeke kusaba khona, noma ukulila noma ukukhala noma ubuhlungu ngeke kusaba khona.” Eqinisweni, “izinto zangaphambili [ziyobe] zidlulile.” (IsAmbulo 21:4) Yeka isibusiso esilindele labo abasesihogweni—‘amathuna ayisikhumbuzo’! Ngempela, lesi sibusiso siyisizathu esanele sokuba singenise ulwazi olwengeziwe ngoJehova uNkulunkulu neNdodana yakhe, uJesu Kristu.—Johane 17:3.
