Action Wit Da Aposals 17:1-34
17 Dey wen go thru Am·phipʹo·lis an Ap·ol·loʹni·a an come to Thes·sa·lo·niʹca, wea had one synagog.*
2 So jus like Paul always do, he go inside da synagog, an fo three sabbaths* he try help dem undastan da Scripchas.
3 He break evryting down an use da Scripchas fo show dat Christ had fo suffa an come back alive. He say: “Dis da Christ, dis Jesus I stay tell you about.”
4 Cuz of dat, some of dem wen come believas an hui up wit Paul an Silas. Choke Greeks who worship God an plenny importan wahines wen do dat too.
5 But da Jews come all jealous an get togedda some real bad guys dat wuz jus hanging out at da marketplace. Afta dey get plenny peopo togedda, dey all go riot in da town. Dey attack Jaʹson’s house cuz dey wanted fo bring Paul an Silas outside to da mob.
6 Wen dey neva find dem, dey drag Jaʹson an some of da odda braddahs out to da guys in charge of da town. Dey yell: “Dese guys dat wen throw da whole world upside down* stay hea too.
7 An Jaʹson wen let dem stay his house. All dese guys stay go agains Caesar’s law, saying get one odda king, Jesus.”
8 Wen dey hea all dis, all da peopo an da guys in charge wuz shock.
9 An afta Jaʹson an da braddahs pos bail, dey wuz let go.
10 Soon az came night time, da braddahs sen Paul an Silas to Be·roeʹa. Afta dey get dea, dey go in da synagog.
11 Da guys in Be·roeʹa wanted fo lissen moa den da guys in Thes·sa·lo·niʹca, cuz dey really wanted fo hea God’s message, an evryday dey wen check out da Scripchas real good fo see if dese tings wuz tru.
12 Cuz of dat, plenny guys wen come believas, even plenny Greek wahines, an some Greek guys too, dat had one good rep.
13 But wen da Jews from Thes·sa·lo·niʹca find out dat Paul wuz telling God’s message in Be·roeʹa, dey wen go dea fo stir up da peopo fo go agains dem.
14 So right away da braddahs wen sen Paul to da coast, but Silas an Timothy wen stay behind.
15 Da guys wit Paul take him all da way to Athens. Afta he tell dem dat Silas an Timothy should come to him az soon az can, dey wen leave.
16 Wen Paul wuz waiting fo dem in Athens, he get all irraz cuz he see all da idols aroun dea.
17 So he go in da synagog an teach da Jews an da odda peopo dat worship God by helping dem fo tink about wat he wuz saying. An evryday in da marketplace he do da same ting wit whoeva stay dea.
18 But some of da Ep·i·cu·reʹan an Stoʹic smart guys* start fo argue wit him. Some of dem wuz saying: “Wat dis chatta box like say?” Oddas tell: “Seem like he talking about gods we neva hea about befoa.” Dey say dis cuz he wuz telling da good news about Jesus an how peopo goin come back alive.
19 So dey grab him an take him to da Ar·e·opʹa·gus.* Dey say: “You can tell us moa about dis new kine teaching you talking about?
20 Cuz you telling us tings we neva hea befoa, an we like know wat dese tings mean.”
21 Dey ask dis cuz all da Athenians an da visitas dat stay dea like fo spen dea time doin notting but talking about an lissening to new stuff.
22 Paul stan up in da middo of da Ar·e·opʹa·gus an sed:
“You guys from Athens, I can tell dat you guys moa religious* den oddas.
23 Cuz wen I wuz walking aroun, I wen see wat you worship. An I wen find one altar dat had dis on um: ‘To One God We Donno.’ So I telling you about dis God dat you donno an still yet worship.
24 Da God who wen make da world an evryting in um no live in da kine tempos man wen make, cuz he da Lord of heaven an earth.
25 He no need peopo take kea him cuz he da one give evrybody life an breath an evryting.
26 From one man he wen make all kine peopo fo live on top da earth. An he pick da time fo plenny tings an set da limit fo wea man would live.
27 Dis iz so dat peopo can reach out fo find God, even tho he no stay far away from all us.
28 Cuz of him we get life, we can come an go, an we stay hea, even like some of yoa Greek writas wen say, ‘We all his kids.’
29 “So den, cuz we God’s kids, we no should tink dat God* stay made outa gold, silva, or stone, like someting man tink of an make.
30 Az tru dat God wen let peopo go cuz dey neva know wat dey wuz doin, but now he stay tell evrybody all ova dat dey gotta come sorry.
31 Cuz he wen pick one day fo judge evrybody on earth da right way by one man he wen choose. He bring dis guy back to life an prove to evrybody dat dis day goin come fo shua.”
32 Wen dey hea about da dead coming back to life, some of dem start fo make fun of him. Oddas sed: “We go talk to you about dis layta on.”
33 So Paul leave dem,
34 but some guys wen join him an come believas. One of dem wuz Di·o·nysʹi·us, one judge fo da court of da Ar·e·opʹa·gus. An anodda wuz one wahine named Damʹa·ris. An had oddas too.
