Acts 20:1-38

20  Μετὰ Afterδὲ butτὸ theπαύσασθαι to ceaseτὸν theθόρυβον uproarμεταπεμψάμενος having sent after (to him)theΠαῦλος Paulτοὺς theμαθητὰς disciplesκαὶ andπαρακαλέσας having encouragedἀσπασάμενος having greetedἐξῆλθεν he went outπορεύεσθαι to be goingεἰς intoΜακεδονίαν. Macedonia. 4  συνείπετο Was following withδὲ butαὐτῷ to himΣώπατρος SopaterΠύρρου of PyrrhusΒεροιαῖος, Berean,Θεσσαλονικέων of Thessaloniansδὲ but᾿Αρίσταρχος Aristarchusκαὶ andΣέκουνδος, Secundus,καὶ andΓαῖος GaiusΔερβαῖος Derbaeanκαὶ andΤιμόθεος, Timothy,᾿Ασιανοὶ Asiansδὲ butΤύχικος Tychicusκαὶ andΤρόφιμος· Trophimus; 5  οὗτοι theseδὲ butπροσελθόντες having come towardἔμενον were remaining forἡμᾶς usἐν inΤρῳάδι· Troas; 6  ἡμεῖς weδὲ butἐξεπλεύσαμεν sailed outμετὰ afterτὰς theἡμέρας daysτῶν of theἀζύμων unfermented [cakes]ἀπὸ fromΦιλίππων, Philippi,καὶ andἤλθομεν we cameπρὸς towardαὐτοὺς themεἰς intoτὴν theΤρῳάδα Troasἄχρι untilἡμερῶν daysπέντε, five,οὗ whereδιετρίψαμεν we spent throughἡμέρας daysἑπτά. seven. 7  ᾿Εν Inδὲ butτῇ theμιᾷ oneτῶν of theσαββάτων sabbathsσυνηγμένων having been led togetherἡμῶν of usκλάσαι to breakἄρτον breadtheΠαῦλος Paulδιελέγετο was discoursingαὐτοῖς, to them,μέλλων being aboutἐξιέναι to be going outτῇ to theἐπαύριον, morrow,παρέτεινέν he extended alongsideτε andτὸν theλόγον wordμέχρι untilμεσονυκτίου. midnight. 8  ἦσαν Wereδὲ butλαμπάδες lampsἱκαναὶ sufficientἐν inτῷ theὑπερῴῳ upper chamberοὗ whereἦμεν we wereσυνηγμένοι· having been led together; 9  καθεζόμενος sittingδέ butτις someνεανίας young manὀνόματι to nameΕὔτυχος Eutychusἐπὶ uponτῆς theθυρίδος, window,καταφερόμενος being borne downὕπνῳ to sleepβαθεῖ deepδιαλεγομένου discoursingτοῦ of theΠαύλου Paulἐπὶ uponπλεῖον, more [time],κατενεχθεὶς having been borne downἀπὸ fromτοῦ theὕπνου sleepἔπεσεν he fellἀπὸ fromτοῦ theτριστέγου third storyκάτω downwardκαὶ andἤρθη he was lifted upνεκρός. dead. 10  καταβὰς Having stepped downδὲ buttheΠαῦλος Paulἐπέπεσεν fell uponαὐτῷ himκαὶ andσυνπεριλαβὼν having embracedεἶπεν he saidΜὴ Notθορυβεῖσθε, be YOU being troubled,theγὰρ forψυχὴ soulαὐτοῦ of himἐν inαὐτῷ himἐστίν. is. 11  ἀναβὰς Having stepped upδὲ butκαὶ andκλάσας having brokenτὸν theἄρτον breadκαὶ andγευσάμενος having tastedἐφ’ uponἱκανόν sufficient [time]τε andὁμιλήσας having conversedἄχρι untilαὐγῆς daybreakοὕτως thusἐξῆλθεν. he went out. 12  ἤγαγον They ledδὲ butτὸν theπαῖδα boyζῶντα, living,καὶ andπαρεκλήθησαν they were comfortedοὐ notμετρίως. measurably. 13  Ἡμεῖς Weδὲ butπροελθόντες having gone beforeἐπὶ uponτὸ theπλοῖον boatἀνήχθημεν we were led upἐπὶ uponτὴν theἌσσον, Assos,ἐκεῖθεν from thereμέλλοντες being aboutἀναλαμβάνειν to be taking upτὸν theΠαῦλον, Paul,οὕτως thusγὰρ forδιατεταγμένος having been orderedἦν he wasμέλλων being aboutαὐτὸς heπεζεύειν. to be going on foot. 14  ὡς Asδὲ butσυνέβαλλεν he threw togetherἡμῖν to usεἰς intoτὴν theἌσσον, Assos,ἀναλαβόντες having taken upαὐτὸν himἤλθομεν we cameεἰς intoΜιτυλήνην, Mitylene, 15  κἀκεῖθεν and from thereἀποπλεύσαντες having sailed offτῇ to theἐπιούσῃ succeeding [day]κατηντήσαμεν we met downἄντικρυς oppositeΧίου, of Chios,τῇ to theδὲ butἑτέρᾳ different (day)παρεβάλομεν we threw alongsideεἰς intoΣάμον, Samos,τῇ to theδὲ butἐχομένῃ being next [day]ἤλθομεν we cameεἰς intoΜίλητον· Miletus; 16  κεκρίκει had judgedγὰρ fortheΠαῦλος Paulπαραπλεῦσαι to sail pastτὴν theἜφεσον, Ephesus,ὅπως so thatμὴ notγένηται it might occurαὐτῷ to himχρονοτριβῆσαι to spend timeἐν inτῇ the᾿Ασίᾳ, Asia,ἔσπευδεν he was hasteningγὰρ forεἰ ifδυνατὸν possibleεἴη it might beαὐτῷ to himτὴν theἡμέραν dayτῆς of theπεντηκοστῆς Pentecostγενέσθαι to come to beεἰς intoἸεροσόλυμα. Jerusalem. 17  ᾿Απὸ Fromδὲ butτῆς theΜιλήτου Miletusπέμψας having sentεἰς intoἜφεσον Ephesusμετεκαλέσατο he called after (to him)τοὺς theπρεσβυτέρους older menτῆς of theἐκκλησίας. ecclesia. 18  ὡς Asδὲ butπαρεγένοντο they came to be alongsideπρὸς towardαὐτὸν himεἶπεν he saidαὐτοῖς to themὙμεῖς YOUἐπίστασθε well knowἀπὸ fromπρώτης firstἡμέρας dayἀφ’ fromἧς whichἐπέβην I stepped uponεἰς intoτὴν the᾿Ασίαν Asiaπῶς howμεθ’ withὑμῶν YOUτὸν theπάντα allχρόνον timeἐγενόμην I came to be 19  δουλεύων slavingτῷ to theκυρίῳ Lordμετὰ withπάσης allταπεινοφροσύνης lowliness of mindκαὶ andδακρύων tearsκαὶ andπειρασμῶν trialsτῶν the (ones)συμβάντων having stepped togetherμοι to meἐν inταῖς theἐπιβουλαῖς plotsτῶν of theἸουδαίων· Jews; 20  ὡς asοὐδὲν nothingὑπεστειλάμην I drew backτῶν of theσυμφερόντων (things) bearing togetherτοῦ of theμὴ notἀναγγεῖλαι to recountὑμῖν to YOUκαὶ andδιδάξαι to teachὑμᾶς YOUδημοσίᾳ to public [place]καὶ andκατ’ according toοἴκους, houses, 21  διαμαρτυρόμενος witnessing through aboutἸουδαίοις to Jewsτε andκαὶ andἝλλησιν to Greeksτὴν theεἰς intoθεὸν Godμετάνοιαν repentanceκαὶ andπίστιν faithεἰς intoτὸν theκύριον Lordἡμῶν of usἸησοῦν. Jesus. 22  καὶ Andνῦν nowἰδοὺ look!δεδεμένος having been boundἐγὼ Iτῷ to theπνεύματι spiritπορεύομαι I am goingεἰς intoἸερουσαλήμ, Jerusalem,τὰ the (things)ἐν inαὐτῇ itσυναντήσοντα about to meet togetherἐμοὶ to meμὴ notεἰδώς, having known, 23  πλὴν besidesὅτι thatτὸ theπνεῦμα spiritτὸ theἅγιον holyκατὰ downπόλιν cityδιαμαρτύρεταί witnesses throughμοι to meλέγον sayingὅτι thatδεσμὰ bondsκαὶ andθλίψεις tribulationsμε meμένουσιν· are remaining for; 24  ἀλλ’ butοὐδενὸς of not oneλόγου wordποιοῦμαι I am makingτὴν theψυχὴν soulτιμίαν valuableἐμαυτῷ to myselfὡς asτελειώσω I should perfectτὸν theδρόμον courseμου of meκαὶ andτὴν theδιακονίαν serviceἣν whichἔλαβον I receivedπαρὰ besideτοῦ of theκυρίου LordἸησοῦ, Jesus,διαμαρτύρασθαι to witness thoroughly toτὸ theεὐαγγέλιον good newsτῆς of theχάριτος undeserved kindnessτοῦ of theθεοῦ. God. 25  καὶ Andνῦν nowἰδοὺ look!ἐγὼ Iοἶδα have knownὅτι thatοὐκέτι not yetὄψεσθε YOU will seeτὸ theπρόσωπόν faceμου of meὑμεῖς YOUπάντες allἐν inοἷς whomδιῆλθον I went throughκηρύσσων preachingτὴν theβασιλείαν· kingdom; 26  διότι through whichμαρτύρομαι I am witnessingὑμῖν to YOUἐν inτῇ theσήμερον today’sἡμέρᾳ dayὅτι thatκαθαρός cleanεἰμι I amἀπὸ fromτοῦ theαἵματος bloodπάντων, of all (ones), 27  οὐ notγὰρ forὑπεστειλάμην I drew backτοῦ of theμὴ notἀναγγεῖλαι to recountπᾶσαν allτὴν theβουλὴν counselτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godὑμῖν. to YOU. 28  προσέχετε Be YOU paying attentionἑαυτοῖς to selvesκαὶ andπαντὶ to allτῷ theποιμνίῳ, flock,ἐν inwhichὑμᾶς YOUτὸ theπνεῦμα spiritτὸ theἅγιον holyἔθετο putἐπισκόπους, overseers,ποιμαίνειν to be shepherdingτὴν theἐκκλησίαν ecclesiaτοῦ of theθεοῦ, God,ἣν whichπεριεποιήσατο he reserved for selfδιὰ throughτοῦ theαἵματος bloodτοῦ of theἰδίου. own (one). 29  ἐγὼ Iοἶδα have knownὅτι thatεἰσελεύσονται will enterμετὰ afterτὴν theἄφιξίν going offμου of meλύκοι wolvesβαρεῖς heavyεἰς intoὑμᾶς YOUμὴ notφειδόμενοι sparingτοῦ of theποιμνίου, flock, 30  καὶ andἐξ out ofὑμῶν YOUαὐτῶν very onesἀναστήσονται will stand upἄνδρες male personsλαλοῦντες speakingδιεστραμμένα having been twisted (things)τοῦ of theἀποσπᾷν to be drawing offτοὺς theμαθητὰς disciplesὀπίσω behindἑαυτῶν· themselves; 31  διὸ through whichγρηγορεῖτε, be YOU keeping awake,μνημονεύοντες rememberingὅτι thatτριετίαν three-year periodνύκτα nightκαὶ andἡμέραν dayοὐκ notἐπαυσάμην I ceasedμετὰ withδακρύων tearsνουθετῶν admonishingἕνα oneἕκαστον. each. 32  καὶ Andτὰ the (things)νῦν nowπαρατίθεμαι I am putting alongsideὑμᾶς YOUτῷ to theκυρίῳ Lordκαὶ andτῷ to theλόγῳ wordτῆς of theχάριτος undeserved kindnessαὐτοῦ of himτῷ to the (one)δυναμένῳ being ableοἰκοδομῆσαι to buildκαὶ andδοῦναι to giveτὴν theκληρονομίαν inheritanceἐν inτοῖς the (ones)ἡγιασμένοις having been sanctifiedπᾶσιν. all. 33  ἀργυρίου Of silverorχρυσίου of goldorἱματισμοῦ of apparelοὐδενὸς of no oneἐπεθύμησα· I coveted; 34  αὐτοὶ very onesγινώσκετε YOU are knowingὅτι thatταῖς to theχρείαις needsμου of meκαὶ andτοῖς to the (ones)οὖσι beingμετ’ withἐμοῦ meὑπηρέτησαν ministeredαἱ theχεῖρες handsαὗται. very. 35  πάντα All (things)ὑπέδειξα I exhibitedὑμῖν to YOUὅτι thatοὕτως thusκοπιῶντας laboringδεῖ it is necessaryἀντιλαμβάνεσθαι to be assistingτῶν of the (ones)ἀσθενούντων, being weak,μνημονεύειν to be rememberingτε andτῶν of theλόγων wordsτοῦ of theκυρίου LordἸησοῦ Jesusὅτι thatαὐτὸς heεἶπεν saidΜακάριόν Happyἐστιν it isμᾶλλον ratherδιδόναι to be givingthanλαμβάνειν. to be receiving. 36  καὶ Andταῦτα these (things)εἰπὼν having saidθεὶς having putτὰ theγόνατα kneesαὐτοῦ of himσὺν together withπᾶσιν allαὐτοῖς themπροσηύξατο. he prayed. 37  ἱκανὸς Sufficientδὲ butκλαυθμὸς weepingἐγένετο occurredπάντων, of all,καὶ andἐπιπεσόντες having fallenἐπὶ uponτὸν theτράχηλον neckτοῦ of theΠαύλου Paulκατεφίλουν they were kissing downαὐτόν, him, 38  ὀδυνώμενοι being painedμάλιστα the ratherἐπὶ uponτῷ theλόγῳ wordto whichεἰρήκει he had spokenὅτι thatοὐκέτι not yetμέλλουσιν they are aboutτὸ theπρόσωπον faceαὐτοῦ of himθεωρεῖν. to be beholding.προέπεμπον They were sending beforeδὲ butαὐτὸν himεἰς intoτὸ theπλοῖον. boat.
