Acts 15:1-41

15  Καί Andτινες someκατελθόντες having come downἀπὸ fromτῆς theἸουδαίας Judeaἐδίδασκον were teachingτοὺς theἀδελφοὺς brothersὅτι that᾿Εὰν If everμὴ notπεριτμηθῆτε YOU should be circumcisedτῷ to theἔθει customτῷ to the (one)Μωυσέως, of Moses,οὐ notδύνασθε YOU are ableσωθῆναι. to be saved. 2  γενομένης Having occurredδὲ butστάσεως of standingκαὶ andζητήσεως of seekingοὐκ notὀλίγης littleτῷ to theΠαύλῳ Paulκαὶ andτῷ to theΒαρνάβᾳ Barnabasπρὸς towardαὐτοὺς themἔταξαν they arrangedἀναβαίνειν to be going upΠαῦλον Paulκαὶ andΒαρνάβαν Barnabasκαί andτινας someἄλλους othersἐξ out ofαὐτῶν themπρὸς towardτοὺς theἀποστόλους apostlesκαὶ andπρεσβυτέρους older menεἰς intoἸερουσαλὴμ Jerusalemπερὶ aboutτοῦ theζητήματος thing soughtτούτου. this. 3  Οἱ The (ones)μὲν indeedοὖν thereforeπροπεμφθέντες having been sent beforeὑπὸ byτῆς theἐκκλησίας ecclesiaδιήρχοντο they were going throughτήν theτε andΦοινίκην Phoeniciaκαὶ andΣαμαρίαν Samariaἐκδιηγούμενοι relating throughoutτὴν theἐπιστροφὴν turning uponτῶν of theἐθνῶν, nations,καὶ andἐποίουν they were makingχαρὰν joyμεγάλην greatπᾶσι to allτοῖς theἀδελφοῖς. brothers. 4  παραγενόμενοι Having come to be alongsideδὲ butεἰς intoἸεροσόλυμα Jerusalemπαρεδέχθησαν they were received alongsideἀπὸ fromτῆς theἐκκλησίας ecclesiaκαὶ andτῶν of theἀποστόλων apostlesκαὶ andτῶν of theπρεσβυτέρων, older men,ἀνήγγειλάν they recountedτε andὅσα as many (things) astheθεὸς Godἐποίησεν didμετ’ withαὐτῶν. them. 5  ᾿Εξανέστησαν Stood up outδέ butτινες someτῶν of the (ones)ἀπὸ fromτῆς theαἱρέσεως sectτῶν of theΦαρισαίων Phariseesπεπιστευκότες, having believed,λέγοντες sayingὅτι thatδεῖ it is necessaryπεριτέμνειν to be circumcisingαὐτοὺς themπαραγγέλλειν to be chargingτε andτηρεῖν to be observingτὸν theνόμον lawΜωυσέως. of Moses. 6  Συνήχθησάν Were led togetherτε andοἱ theἀπόστολοι apostlesκαὶ andοἱ theπρεσβύτεροι older menἰδεῖν to seeπερὶ aboutτοῦ theλόγου wordτούτου. this. 7  Πολλῆς Of muchδὲ butζητήσεως of seekingγενομένης having occurredἀναστὰς having stood upΠέτρος Peterεἶπεν saidπρὸς towardαὐτούς themἌνδρες Male personsἀδελφοί, brothers,ὑμεῖς YOUἐπίστασθε are well knowingὅτι thatἀφ’ fromἡμερῶν daysἀρχαίων originalἐν inὑμῖν YOUἐξελέξατο chosetheθεὸς Godδιὰ throughτοῦ theστόματός mouthμου of meἀκοῦσαι to hearτὰ theἔθνη nationsτὸν theλόγον wordτοῦ of theεὐαγγελίου good newsκαὶ andπιστεῦσαι, to believe, 8  καὶ andtheκαρδιογνώστης heart-knowingθεὸς Godἐμαρτύρησεν bore witnessαὐτοῖς to themδοὺς having givenτὸ theπνεῦμα spiritτὸ theἅγιον holyκαθὼς according asκαὶ alsoἡμῖν, to us, 9  καὶ andοὐθὲν nothingδιέκρινεν he distinguishedμεταξὺ betweenἡμῶν usτε andκαὶ andαὐτῶν, them,τῇ to theπίστει faithκαθαρίσας having purifiedτὰς theκαρδίας heartsαὐτῶν. of them. 10  νῦν Nowοὖν thereforeτί whyπειράζετε are YOU testingτὸν theθεόν, God,ἐπιθεῖναι to put uponζυγὸν yokeἐπὶ uponτὸν theτράχηλον neckτῶν of theμαθητῶν disciplesὃν whichοὔτε neitherοἱ theπατέρες fathersἡμῶν of usοὔτε norἡμεῖς weἰσχύσαμεν were strong enoughβαστάσαι; to carry? 11  ἀλλὰ Butδιὰ throughτῆς theχάριτος undeserved kindnessτοῦ of theκυρίου LordἸησοῦ Jesusπιστεύομεν we are believingσωθῆναι to be savedκαθ’ downὃν whichτρόπον mannerκἀκεῖνοι. also those. 12  ᾿Εσίγησεν Became silentδὲ butπᾶν allτὸ theπλῆθος, multitude,καὶ andἤκουον were hearingΒαρνάβα of Barnabasκαὶ andΠαύλου of Paulἐξηγουμένων relating outὅσα as many (things) asἐποίησεν didtheθεὸς Godσημεῖα signsκαὶ andτέρατα portentsἐν inτοῖς theἔθνεσιν nationsδι’ throughαὐτῶν. them. 13  Μετὰ Afterδὲ butτὸ theσιγῆσαι to become silentαὐτοὺς themἀπεκρίθη answeredἸάκωβος Jamesλέγων sayingἌνδρες Male personsἀδελφοί, brothers,ἀκούσατέ hear YOUμου. of me. 14  Συμεὼν Symeonἐξηγήσατο related outκαθὼς according asπρῶτον firstlytheθεὸς Godἐπεσκέψατο looked uponλαβεῖν to takeἐξ out ofἐθνῶν nationsλαὸν peopleτῷ to theὀνόματι nameαὐτοῦ. of him. 15  καὶ Andτούτῳ to thisσυμφωνοῦσιν are sounding togetherοἱ theλόγοι wordsτῶν of theπροφητῶν, prophets,καθὼς according asγέγραπται it has been written 16  Μετὰ Afterταῦτα these (things)ἀναστρέψω I shall turn upκαὶ andἀνοικοδομήσω I shall rebuildτὴν theσκηνὴν tentΔαυεὶδ of Davidτὴν the (one)πεπτωκυῖαν having fallenκαὶ andτὰ the (things)κατεστραμμένα having been turned downαὐτῆς of itἀνοικοδομήσω I shall rebuildκαὶ andἀνορθώσω I shall erect againαὐτήν, it, 17  ὅπως so thatἂν likelyἐκζητήσωσιν should seek outοἱ theκατάλοιποι leftover onesτῶν of theἀνθρώπων menτὸν theκύριον, Lord,καὶ andπάντα allτὰ theἔθνη nationsἐφ’ uponοὓς whomἐπικέκληται has been called uponτὸ theὄνομά nameμου of meἐπ’ uponαὐτούς, them,λέγει is sayingΚύριος Lordποιῶν doingταῦτα these (things) 18  γνωστὰ knownἀπ’ fromαἰῶνος. age. 19  διὸ Through whichἐγὼ Iκρίνω am judgingμὴ notπαρενοχλεῖν to be troublingτοῖς to the (ones)ἀπὸ fromτῶν theἐθνῶν nationsἐπιστρέφουσιν turningἐπὶ uponτὸν theθεόν, God, 20  ἀλλὰ butἐπιστεῖλαι to dispatch wordαὐτοῖς to themτοῦ of theἀπέχεσθαι to be abstainingτῶν of theἀλισγημάτων pollutionsτῶν of theεἰδώλων idolsκαὶ andτῆς of theπορνείας fornicationκαὶ andπνικτοῦ of thing strangledκαὶ andτοῦ of theαἵματος· blood; 21  Μωυσῆς Mosesγὰρ forἐκ out ofγενεῶν generationsἀρχαίων originalκατὰ according toπόλιν cityτοὺς the (ones)κηρύσσοντας preachingαὐτὸν himἔχει he is havingἐν inταῖς theσυναγωγαῖς synagoguesκατὰ downπᾶν everyσάββατον sabbathἀναγινωσκόμενος. being read. 22  Τότε Thenἔδοξε it seemedτοῖς to theἀποστόλοις apostlesκαὶ andτοῖς theπρεσβυτέροις older menσὺν together withὅλῃ wholeτῇ theἐκκλησίᾳ ecclesiaἐκλεξαμένους having chosenἄνδρας male personsἐξ out ofαὐτῶν themπέμψαι to sendεἰς into᾿Αντιόχειαν Antiochσὺν together withτῷ theΠαύλῳ Paulκαὶ andΒαρνάβᾳ, to Barnabas,Ἰούδαν Judasτὸν the (one)καλούμενον being calledΒαρσαββᾶν Barsabbasκαὶ andΣίλαν, Silas,ἄνδρας male personsἡγουμένους leadingἐν inτοῖς theἀδελφοῖς, brothers, 23  γράψαντες having writtenδιὰ throughχειρὸς handαὐτῶν of them Οἱ Theἀπόστολοι apostlesκαὶ andοἱ theπρεσβύτεροι older menἀδελφοὶ brothersτοῖς to theκατὰ downτὴν the᾿Αντιόχειαν Antiochκαὶ andΣυρίαν Syriaκαὶ andΚιλικίαν Ciliciaἀδελφοῖς to brothersτοῖς to the (ones)ἐξ out ofἐθνῶν nationsχαίρειν. to be rejoicing. 24  ᾿Επειδὴ Sinceἠκούσαμεν we heardὅτι thatτινὲς someἐξ out ofἡμῶν usἐτάραξαν agitatedὑμᾶς YOUλόγοις to wordsἀνασκευάζοντες subvertingτὰς theψυχὰς soulsὑμῶν, of YOU,οἷς to whomοὐ notδιεστειλάμεθα, we gave instructions, 25  ἔδοξεν it seemedἡμῖν to usγενομένοις having becomeὁμοθυμαδὸν like-mindedlyἐκλεξαμένοις having chosenἄνδρας male personsπέμψαι to sendπρὸς towardὑμᾶς YOUσὺν together withτοῖς theἀγαπητοῖς lovedἡμῶν of usΒαρνάβᾳ to Barnabasκαὶ andΠαύλῳ, to Paul, 26  ἀνθρώποις to menπαραδεδωκόσι having given besideτὰς theψυχὰς soulsαὐτῶν of themὑπὲρ overτοῦ theὀνόματος nameτοῦ of theκυρίου Lordἡμῶν of usἸησοῦ JesusΧριστοῦ. Christ. 27  ἀπεστάλκαμεν We have sent offοὖν thereforeἸούδαν Judasκαὶ andΣίλαν, Silas,καὶ andαὐτοὺς themδιὰ throughλόγου wordἀπαγγέλλοντας reporting backτὰ theαὐτά. very (things). 28  ἔδοξεν It seemedγὰρ forτῷ to theπνεύματι spiritτῷ theἁγίῳ holyκαὶ andἡμῖν to usμηδὲν nothingπλέον moreἐπιτίθεσθαι to be put uponὑμῖν YOUβάρος burdenπλὴν besidesτούτων theseτῶν the (things)ἐπάναγκες, of necessity, 29  ἀπέχεσθαι to be abstaining fromεἰδωλοθύτων (things) sacrificed to idolsκαὶ andαἵματος of bloodκαὶ andπνικτῶν of (things) strangledκαὶ andπορνείας· of fornication;ἐξ out ofὧν whichδιατηροῦντες thoroughly keepingἑαυτοὺς selvesεὖ wellπράξετε. YOU will perform.Ἔρρωσθε. Be YOU in good health. 30  Οἱ The (ones)μὲν indeedοὖν thereforeἀπολυθέντες having been releasedκατῆλθον went downεἰς into᾿Αντιόχειαν, Antioch,καὶ andσυναγαγόντες having led togetherτὸ theπλῆθος multitudeἐπέδωκαν they gave upon [hand]τὴν theἐπιστολήν· letter; 31  ἀναγνόντες having readδὲ butἐχάρησαν they rejoicedἐπὶ uponτῇ theπαρακλήσει. encouragement. 32  Ἰούδας Judasτε andκαὶ andΣίλας, Silas,καὶ alsoαὐτοὶ theyπροφῆται prophetsὄντες, being,διὰ throughλόγου wordπολλοῦ muchπαρεκάλεσαν encouragedτοὺς theἀδελφοὺς brothersκαὶ andἐπεστήριξαν· they confirmed; 33  ποιήσαντες having doneδὲ butχρόνον timeἀπελύθησαν they were releasedμετ’ withεἰρήνης peaceἀπὸ fromτῶν theἀδελφῶν brothersπρὸς towardτοὺς the (ones)ἀποστείλαντας having sent offαὐτούς. them. 34  —— —— 35  Παῦλος Paulδὲ butκαὶ andΒαρνάβας Barnabasδιέτριβον were spending [time]ἐν in᾿Αντιοχείᾳ Antiochδιδάσκοντες teachingκαὶ andεὐαγγελιζόμενοι declaring as good newsμετὰ withκαὶ alsoἑτέρων different (ones)πολλῶν manyτὸν theλόγον wordτοῦ of theκυρίου. Lord. 36  Μετὰ Afterδέ butτινας someἡμέρας daysεἶπεν saidπρὸς towardΒαρνάβαν BarnabasΠαῦλος Paul᾿Επιστρέψαντες Having returnedδὴ of all thingsἐπισκεψώμεθα let us look uponτοὺς theἀδελφοὺς brothersκατὰ downπόλιν cityπᾶσαν everyἐν inαἷς which (ones)κατηγγείλαμεν we announced downτὸν theλόγον wordτοῦ of theκυρίου, Lord,πῶς howἔχουσιν. they are having. 37  Βαρνάβας Barnabasδὲ butἐβούλετο was wishingσυνπαραλαβεῖν to take along withκαὶ alsoτὸν theἸωάνην Johnτὸν the (one)καλούμενον being calledΜάρκον· Mark; 38  Παῦλος Paulδὲ butἠξίου, was thinking worthy,τὸν the (one)ἀποστάντα having stood offἀπ’ fromαὐτῶν themἀπὸ fromΠαμφυλίας Pamphyliaκαὶ andμὴ notσυνελθόντα having gone withαὐτοῖς themεἰς intoτὸ theἔργον, work,μὴ notσυνπαραλαμβάνειν to be taking along withτοῦτον. this (one). 39  ἐγένετο Occurredδὲ butπαροξυσμὸς paroxysmὥστε as-andἀποχωρισθῆναι to be separatedαὐτοὺς themἀπ’ fromἀλλήλων, one another,τόν theτε andΒαρνάβαν Barnabasπαραλαβόντα having taken alongτὸν theΜάρκον Markἐκπλεῦσαι to sail outεἰς intoΚύπρον. Cyprus. 40  Παῦλος Paulδὲ butἐπιλεξάμενος having selectedΣίλαν Silasἐξῆλθεν he went outπαραδοθεὶς having been given besideτῇ to theχάριτι undeserved kindnessτοῦ of theκυρίου Lordὑπὸ byτῶν theἀδελφῶν, brothers, 41  διήρχετο he was going throughδὲ butτὴν theΣυρίαν Syriaκαὶ andτὴν theΚιλικίαν Ciliciaἐπιστηρίζων confirmingτὰς theἐκκλησίας. congregations.
