Acts 6:1-15

6  ᾿Εν Inδὲ butταῖς theἡμέραις daysταύταις theseπληθυνόντων multiplyingτῶν of theμαθητῶν disciplesἐγένετο occurredγογγυσμὸς murmuringτῶν of theἙλληνιστῶν Hellenistsπρὸς towardτοὺς the᾿Εβραίους Hebrewsὅτι becauseπαρεθεωροῦντο they were being overlookedἐν inτῇ theδιακονίᾳ serviceτῇ theκαθημερινῇ dailyαἱ theχῆραι widowsαὐτῶν. of them. 2  προσκαλεσάμενοι Having called toward themselvesδὲ butοἱ theδώδεκα twelveτὸ theπλῆθος multitudeτῶν of theμαθητῶν disciplesεἶπαν saidΟὐκ Notἀρεστόν pleasingἐστιν it isἡμᾶς usκαταλείψαντας having abandonedτὸν theλόγον wordτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godδιακονεῖν to be servingτραπέζαις· to tables; 3  ἐπισκέψασθε look YOU uponδέ, but,ἀδελφοί, brothers,ἄνδρας male personsἐξ out ofὑμῶν YOUμαρτυρουμένους being witnessed toἑπτὰ sevenπλήρεις fullπνεύματος of spiritκαὶ andσοφίας, of wisdom,οὓς whomκαταστήσομεν we will appointἐπὶ uponτῆς theχρείας needταύτης· this; 4  ἡμεῖς weδὲ butτῇ to theπροσευχῇ prayerκαὶ andτῇ to theδιακονίᾳ serviceτοῦ of theλόγου wordπροσκαρτερήσομεν. we shall persevere. 5  καὶ Andἤρεσεν pleasedὁ theλόγος wordἐνώπιον in sightπαντὸς of allτοῦ theπλήθους, multitude,καὶ andἐξελέξαντο they selectedΣτέφανον, Stephen,ἄνδρα male personπλήρη fullπίστεως of faithκαὶ andπνεύματος of spiritἁγίου, holy,καὶ andΦίλιππον Philipκαὶ andΠρόχορον Prochorusκαὶ andΝικάνορα Nicanorκαὶ andΤίμωνα Timonκαὶ andΠαρμενᾶν Parmenasκαὶ andΝικόλαον Nicolausπροσήλυτον proselyte᾿Αντιοχέα, Antiochian, 6  οὓς whomἔστησαν they made standἐνώπιον in sightτῶν of theἀποστόλων, apostles,καὶ andπροσευξάμενοι having prayedἐπέθηκαν they put uponαὐτοῖς themτὰς theχεῖρας. hands. 7  Καὶ Andὁ theλόγος wordτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godηὔξανεν, was growing,καὶ andἐπληθύνετο was multiplyingὁ theἀριθμὸς numberτῶν of theμαθητῶν disciplesἐν inἸερουσαλὴμ Jerusalemσφόδρα, very much,πολύς muchτε andὄχλος crowdτῶν of theἱερέων priestsὑπήκουον were hearing submissivelyτῇ to theπίστει. faith. 8  Στέφανος Stephenδὲ butπλήρης fullχάριτος of graciousnessκαὶ andδυνάμεως powerἐποίει was doingτέρατα portentsκαὶ andσημεῖα signsμεγάλα greatἐν inτῷ theλαῷ. people. 9  ᾿Ανέστησαν Stood upδέ butτινες some onesτῶν of the (ones)ἐκ out ofτῆς theσυναγωγῆς synagogueτῆς the (one)λεγομένης being saidΛιβερτίνων of Libertinesκαὶ andΚυρηναίων of Cyreniansκαὶ and᾿Αλεξανδρέων of Alexandriansκαὶ andτῶν of the (ones)ἀπὸ fromΚιλικίας Ciliciaκαὶ and᾿Ασίας of Asiaσυνζητοῦντες seeking together withτῷ theΣτεφάνῳ, Stephen, 10  καὶ andοὐκ notἴσχυον they were strong enoughἀντιστῆναι to withstandτῇ to theσοφίᾳ wisdomκαὶ andτῷ to theπνεύματι spiritᾧ to whichἐλάλει. he was speaking. 11  τότε Thenὑπέβαλον they thrust underἄνδρας male personsλέγοντας sayingὅτι that᾿Ακηκόαμεν We have heardαὐτοῦ of himλαλοῦντος speakingῥήματα sayingsβλάσφημα blasphemousεἰς intoΜωυσῆν Mosesκαὶ andτὸν theθεόν· God; 12  συνεκίνησάν They stirred upτε andτὸν theλαὸν peopleκαὶ andτοὺς theπρεσβυτέρους older menκαὶ andτοὺς theγραμματεῖς, scribes,καὶ andἐπιστάντες having stood uponσυνήρπασαν they jointly snatchedαὐτὸν himκαὶ andἤγαγον they ledεἰς intoτὸ theσυνέδριον, Sanhedrin, 13  ἔστησάν they made standτε andμάρτυρας witnessesψευδεῖς falseλέγοντας sayingὉ Theἄνθρωπος manοὗτος thisοὐ notπαύεται is ceasingλαλῶν speakingῥήματα sayingsκατὰ down onτοῦ theτόπου placeτοῦ theἁγίου holyτούτου thisκαὶ andτοῦ of theνόμου, Law, 14  ἀκηκόαμεν we have heardγὰρ forαὐτοῦ of himλέγοντος sayingὅτι thatἸησοῦς Jesusὁ theΝαζωραῖος Nazareneοὗτος thisκαταλύσει will loose downτὸν theτόπον placeτοῦτον thisκαὶ andἀλλάξει he will changeτὰ theἔθη customsἃ whichπαρέδωκεν gave besideἡμῖν to usΜωυσῆς. Moses. 15  Καὶ Andἀτενίσαντες having gazedεἰς intoαὐτὸν himπάντες allοἱ the (ones)καθεζόμενοι sittingἐν inτῷ theσυνεδρίῳ Sanhedrinεἶδαν they sawτὸ theπρόσωπον faceαὐτοῦ of himὡσεὶ as ifπρόσωπον faceἀγγέλου. of angel.
