Revelation 1:1-20

1  ᾿Αποκάλυψις RevelationἸησοῦ of JesusΧριστοῦ, Christ,ἣν whichἔδωκεν gaveαὐτῷ to himtheθεὸς Godδεῖξαι to showτοῖς to theδούλοις slavesαὐτοῦ, of him,which (things)δεῖ it is bindingγενέσθαι to occurἐν inτάχει, quickness,καὶ andἐσήμανεν he showed by signsἀποστείλας having sent offδιὰ throughτοῦ theἀγγέλου angelαὐτοῦ of himτῷ to theδούλῳ slaveαὐτοῦ of himἸωάνει, to John, 2  ὃς whoἐμαρτύρησεν bore witness ofτὸν theλόγον wordτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godκαὶ andτὴν theμαρτυρίαν witnessἸησοῦ of JesusΧριστοῦ, Christ,ὅσα as many (things) asεἶδεν. he saw. 3  μακάριος Happythe (one)ἀναγινώσκων reading (aloud)καὶ andοἱ the (ones)ἀκούοντες hearingτοὺς theλόγους wordsτῆς of theπροφητείας prophecyκαὶ andτηροῦντες observingτὰ the (things)ἐν inαὐτῇ itγεγραμμένα, having been written,theγὰρ forκαιρὸς appointed timeἐγγύς. near. 4  Ἰωάνης Johnταῖς to theἑπτὰ sevenἐκκλησίαις ecclesiasταῖς theἐν inτῇ the᾿Ασίᾳ· Asia; χάρις Undeserved kindnessὑμῖν to YOUκαὶ andεἰρήνη peaceἀπὸ fromthe (one)ὢν beingκαὶ andthe (one)ἦν wasκαὶ andthe (one)ἐρχόμενος, coming,καὶ andἀπὸ fromτῶν theἑπτὰ sevenπνευμάτων spiritswhichἐνώπιον in sightτοῦ of theθρόνου throneαὐτοῦ, of him, 5  καὶ andἀπὸ fromἸησοῦ JesusΧριστοῦ, Christ,[he] theμάρτυς Witnesstheπιστός, Faithful,theπρωτότοκος firstbornτῶν of theνεκρῶν dead (ones)καὶ andTheἄρχων Rulerτῶν of theβασιλέων kingsτῆς of theγῆς. earth. Τῷ To the (one)ἀγαπῶντι lovingἡμᾶς usκαὶ andλύσαντι having loosedἡμᾶς usἐκ out ofτῶν theἁμαρτιῶν sinsἡμῶν of usἐν inτῷ theαἵματι bloodαὐτοῦ,— of him,— 6  καὶ andἐποίησεν he madeἡμᾶς usβασιλείαν, kingdom,ἱερεῖς priestsτῷ to theθεῷ Godκαὶ andπατρὶ to Fatherαὐτοῦ,— of him,—αὐτῷ to himtheδόξα gloryκαὶ andτὸ theκράτος mightεἰς intoτοὺς theαἰῶνας· ages;ἀμήν. amen. 7  Ἰδοὺ Look!ἔρχεται He is comingμετὰ withτῶν theνεφελῶν, clouds,καὶ andὄψεται will seeαὐτὸν himπᾶς everyὀφθαλμὸς eyeκαὶ andοἵτινες whichever (ones)αὐτὸν himἐξεκέντησαν, stabbed out,καὶ andκόψονται they will strike themselvesἐπ’ uponαὐτὸν himπᾶσαι allαἱ theφυλαὶ tribesτῆς of theγῆς. earth.ναί, Yes,ἀμήν. amen. 8  ᾿Εγώ Iεἰμι amτὸ theἌλφα Alphaκαὶ andτὸ the῏Ω, Omega,λέγει is sayingΚύριος, Lord,theθεός, God,The (one)ὢν beingκαὶ andthe (one)ἦν wasκαὶ andthe (one)ἐρχόμενος, coming,theπαντοκράτωρ. Almighty. 9  ᾿Εγὼ IἸωάνης, John,theἀδελφὸς brotherὑμῶν of YOUκαὶ andσυνκοινωνὸς co-sharerἐν inτῇ theθλίψει tribulationκαὶ andβασιλείᾳ kingdomκαὶ andὑπομονῇ enduranceἐν inἸησοῦ, Jesus,ἐγενόμην I came to beἐν inτῇ theνήσῳ isleτῇ the (one)καλουμένῃ being calledΠάτμῳ Patmosδιὰ throughτὸν theλόγον wordτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godκαὶ andτὴν theμαρτυρίαν witnessἸησοῦ. of Jesus. 10  ἐγενόμην I came to beἐν inπνεύματι spiritἐν inτῇ theκυριακῇ pertaining to Lordἡμέρᾳ, day,καὶ andἤκουσα I heardὀπίσω behindμου of meφωνὴν voiceμεγάλην greatὡς asσάλπιγγος of trumpet 11  λεγούσης sayingwhich (thing)βλέπεις you are looking atγράψον writeεἰς intoβιβλίον little bookκαὶ andπέμψον sendταῖς to theἑπτὰ sevenἐκκλησίαις, ecclesias,εἰς intoἜφεσον Ephesusκαὶ andεἰς intoΣμύρναν Smyrnaκαὶ andεἰς intoΠέργαμον Pergamumκαὶ andεἰς intoΘυάτειρα Thyatiraκαὶ andεἰς intoΣάρδεις Sardisκαὶ andεἰς intoΦιλαδελφίαν Philadelphiaκαὶ andεἰς intoΛαοδικίαν. Laodicea. 12  Καὶ Andἐπέστρεψα I turned uponβλέπειν to be looking atτὴν theφωνὴν voiceἥτις whichἐλάλει was speakingμετ’ withἐμοῦ· me;καὶ andἐπιστρέψας having turned uponεἶδον I sawἑπτὰ sevenλυχνίας lampstandsχρυσᾶς, golden, 13  καὶ andἐν inμέσῳ midstτῶν of theλυχνιῶν lampstandsὅμοιον (one) likeυἱὸν sonἀνθρώπου, of man,ἐνδεδυμένον having been clothedποδήρη [garment] reaching the footκαὶ andπεριεζωσμένον having been girded aboutπρὸς towardτοῖς theμαστοῖς breastsζώνην girdleχρυσᾶν· golden; 14  theδὲ butκεφαλὴ headαὐτοῦ of himκαὶ andαἱ theτρίχες hairsλευκαὶ whiteὡς asἔριον woolλευκόν, white,ὡς asχιών, snow,καὶ andοἱ theὀφθαλμοὶ eyesαὐτοῦ of himὡς asφλὸξ flameπυρός, of fire, 15  καὶ andοἱ theπόδες feetαὐτοῦ of himὅμοιοι likeχαλκολιβάνῳ, to fine copper,ὡς asἐν inκαμίνῳ furnaceπεπυρωμένης, of (one) having been fired,καὶ andtheφωνὴ voiceαὐτοῦ of himὡς asφωνὴ voiceὑδάτων of watersπολλῶν, many, 16  καὶ andἔχων [he] havingἐν inτῇ theδεξιᾷ rightχειρὶ handαὐτοῦ of himἀστέρας starsἑπτά, seven,καὶ andἐκ out ofτοῦ theστόματος mouthαὐτοῦ of himῥομφαία long swordδίστομος two-mouthedὀξεῖα sharpἐκπορευομένη, going out,καὶ andtheὄψις countenanceαὐτοῦ of himὡς astheἥλιος sunφαίνει is shiningἐν inτῇ theδυνάμει powerαὐτοῦ. of it. 17  Καὶ Andὅτε whenεἶδον I sawαὐτόν, him,ἔπεσα I fellπρὸς towardτοὺς theπόδας feetαὐτοῦ of himὡς asνεκρός· dead (one); καὶ andἔθηκεν he putτὴν theδεξιὰν right [hand]αὐτοῦ of himἐπ’ uponἐμὲ meλέγων sayingΜὴ Notφοβοῦ· be fearing;ἐγώ Iεἰμι amtheπρῶτος Firstκαὶ andtheἔσχατος, Last, 18  καὶ andthe (one)ζῶν,— living,—καὶ andἐγενόμην I becameνεκρὸς dead (one)καὶ andἰδοὺ look!ζῶν livingεἰμὶ I amεἰς intoτοὺς theαἰῶνας agesτῶν of theαἰώνων,— ages,—καὶ andἔχω I am havingτὰς theκλεῖς keysτοῦ of theθανάτου deathκαὶ andτοῦ of theᾅδου. Hades. 19  γράψον Writeοὖν thereforewhat (things)εἶδες you sawκαὶ andwhat (things)εἰσὶν areκαὶ andwhat (things)μέλλει is aboutγίνεσθαι to be occurringμετὰ afterταῦτα. these (things). 20  τὸ Theμυστήριον mysteryτῶν of theἑπτὰ sevenἀστέρων starsοὓς whichεἶδες you sawἐπὶ uponτῆς theδεξιᾶς right [hand]μου, of me,καὶ andτὰς theἑπτὰ sevenλυχνίας lampstandsτὰς theχρυσᾶς· golden;οἱ theἑπτὰ sevenἀστέρες starsἄγγελοι angelsτῶν of theἑπτὰ sevenἐκκλησιῶν ecclesiasεἰσίν, are,καὶ andαἱ theλυχνίαι lampstandsαἱ theἑπτὰ sevenἑπτὰ sevenἐκκλησίαι ecclesiasεἰσίν. are.
