Daniel 9:1-27
9 For the first year of Da·riʹus the son of A·has·u·eʹrus—wey come from the family line of Media people and wey them don put as king for the kingdom of Chal·deʹa people—
2 for the first year of im rulership, me, Daniel, understand from the books* as e be for wetin Jehovah tell Jeremiah the prophet, say the number of years wey Jerusalem go be empty place wey scatter reach ground na 70 years.
3 So I turn my face to beg Jehovah the true God for help, I de beg-am for prayer and I still de fast and de wear sackcloth and de use ashes.
4 I pray to Jehovah my God and I confess and talk say:
“O Jehovah the true God, the Person wey dey great and wey people suppose de fear, wey de keep im agreement and show love wey no de fail to people wey love-am and wey de obey im commandments,
5 we don sin, we don do wetin no correct, we don do wicked things, and we don turn against you; and we no obey your commandments and your judgments.
6 We no listen to your servants the prophets, wey use your name talk to our kings, our leaders,* our papa-papa them, and all the people of the land.
7 Na you, O Jehovah, dey righteous but na we get the shame* as e dey today, the shame na for the men of Judah, the people wey de live for Jerusalem, and all Israel, the ones wey dey near and wey dey far for all the lands wey you scatter them go, because them don do wetin show say them no dey faithful to you.
8 “O Jehovah, na we get the shame,* na our kings, our leaders,* and our papa-papa them, because we don sin against you.
9 Na Jehovah our God de show mercy and de forgive, even as we don turn against-am.
10 We no obey the voice of Jehovah our God as we no follow im laws wey e use im servants the prophets to put for our front.
11 All Israel don break your Law and turn comot from your side as them no obey your voice; na im make you pour the curse and the swear ontop us, wey them write about for the Law of Moses the servant of the true God, because we don sin against God.
12 E don do the things wey e talk against us and against the people wey rule us,* as e bring this serious trouble ontop us; nothing wey them don ever do for the whole earth* don be like wetin them do for Jerusalem.
13 Just as them don write-am for the Law of Moses, all this trouble don come ontop us, but we no beg Jehovah our God make e show us favor* as we no comot hand from our sin and as we no show say we understand your truth.*
14 “So Jehovah continue to watch and e bring trouble ontop us, because Jehovah our God dey righteous for everything wey e don do; but we no gree obey im voice.
15 “Now, O Jehovah our God, na you be the Person wey bring your people come out from the land of Egypt, with powerful hand and wey make name for yourself till today, we don sin and do wicked thing.
16 O Jehovah, according to everything wey you don do wey show say you dey righteous, abeg, make you stop to vex and to de boil inside for your city Jerusalem, wey be your holy mountain. Na because of our sins and the mistakes of our papa-papa them, Jerusalem and your people don be something wey all the people around us de use laugh.
17 And now, O our God, make you listen to the prayer of your servant and the things wey e de beg you to do, and make your face shine ontop your holy place wey dey empty, because of your name, O Jehovah.
18 Abeg open your ear, O my God, and hear! Open your eyes and see our bad condition and the city wey de bear your name; but we no de beg you because of the righteous things wey we don do, but na because you de show mercy no be small.
19 O Jehovah, make you hear. O Jehovah, make you forgive. O Jehovah, make you put mind and do something! No delay, because of your name, O my God, because of your city and your people wey de bear your name.”
20 When I still de talk and de pray and de confess my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and de beg for favor for front of Jehovah my God about the holy mountain of my God,
21 yes, as I still de talk for prayer, the man Gaʹbri·el, wey I don see before for the vision come meet me when I don tire well-well, around the time for the evening gift offering.
22 And e make me understand wetin go happen, e talk say:
“O Daniel, now I don come give you deep sense and help you understand wetin go happen.
23 When you start to pray, the message from God reach me, and I don come tell you about-am, because you be really special person.* So put mind for the matter and understand the vision.
24 “Them don set 70 weeks* for your people and your holy city to end the bad thing, to comot sin finish, to forgive mistake, to bring wetin dey righteous forever, to stamp* the vision and the prophecy,* and to anoint the Holy of Holies.*
25 Make you know and understand say from the time wey them give the command to make Jerusalem dey as e dey before and to build-am back until when Mes·siʹah* the Leader come, na 7 weeks go dey and another 62 weeks. Them go make Jerusalem dey as e dey before and build-am back, and e go get public place and them go dig hole round-am, but e go be for time wey problem dey.
26 “And after the 62 weeks, them go cut Mes·siʹah comot,* and e no go get anything for imself.
“And one leader go come with im people and them go destroy the city and the holy place. And e go end like say na with flood. And until the end, war go dey; wetin them don decide say go happen na destruction.
27 “And e go keep the agreement make e continue to work for many people for one week; and for half of the week, e go make sacrifice and gift offering to stop.
“And ontop the wing of yamayama things,* the person wey de cause destruction go dey there; and until the destruction complete, wetin them don decide go still pour ontop the one wey dey empty.”
