Daniel 6:1-28
6 Da·riʹus see say e dey good to choose 120 people as satraps for the whole kingdom.
2 Three people wey get high position dey in charge of this people, and one of this three people na Daniel; the satraps de tell them everything wey de happen so that the king no go lose things.
3 Now Daniel de show say e really dey different from the other people wey get high position and the satraps, because e get special spirit for im body, and the king plan to raise im position make e dey in charge of the whole kingdom.
4 That time the people wey get high position and the satraps de try find wetin them go use lie against Daniel for matter wey concern the government,* but them no see wetin them go use lie against-am or any bad thing wey e be don put hand, because na person wey people trust, and them no fit see wetin them fit use talk say e de play with im work or e de put hand for bad thing.
5 Then this men talk say: “We no go see anything at all to use lie against this Daniel, unless we find something against-am wey concern the law of im God.”
6 So this people wey get high position and satraps go meet the king as one group, and them tell-am say: “O King Da·riʹus, make you continue to live forever.
7 All the people wey de work for the king, government officers, satraps, king officers wey get high position, and governors don meet together to form one government law and to put ban* say, for 30 days, anybody wey pray to any god or man* apart from you, O king, make them throw the person put for inside lion pit.
8 Now, O king, make you make the law stand and sign-am, so that e no go fit change, according to the law of Media people and Persia people, wey them no de fit cancel.”
9 So King Da·riʹus sign the law and the ban.
10 But as Daniel just know say them don sign the law, e go im house wey the room for the roof get windows wey open face Jerusalem. And three times everyday, e de kneel down de pray and praise im God, as e don de always do before this time.
11 Na that time this men burst enter inside and see Daniel as e de ask and de beg im God for favor.
12 So them go meet the king and remind-am about the government ban, say: “No be you sign one ban say for 30 days, anybody wey pray to any god or man* apart from you, O king, make them throw the person for inside lion pit?” The king answer say: “The matter clear well, according to the law of Media people and Persia people wey them no de fit cancel.”
13 Quick-quick, them tell the king say: “Daniel, wey dey among the people wey them carry come as slave from Judah no show say e respect you at all, O king, and e no still follow the ban wey you sign, but e de pray three times everyday.”
14 As the king just hear this one, e really worry-am no be small and e try to think of how to save Daniel, and e do everything wey e fit do to save-am until evening reach.*
15 At last, the men go meet the king as one group and them tell the king say: “O king, remember say the law of Media people and Persia people na say any ban or law wey the king make no go fit change.”
16 So the king give command, and them bring Daniel and throw-am put for the pit wey lions dey. The king tell Daniel say: “Your God wey you don continue to serve go save you.”
17 Then, them bring one stone and use-am cover the mouth of* the pit, and the king seal-am with im special ring and with the special ring of the important people wey de work with-am, so that them no go fit change anything for Daniel matter.
18 Then the king go im palace. E fast the whole night and e no gree hear any music,* and e no fit sleep.*
19 At last, as day just de break for early morning, the king get up and hurry go the pit wey lions dey.
20 As e near the pit, e shout call Daniel with sad voice. The king ask Daniel say: “O Daniel, servant of the God wey dey alive, your God wey you don continue to serve don save you from the lions?”
21 At once, Daniel tell the king say: “O king, make you continue to live forever.
22 My God send im angels and close the mouth of the lions and them no do me anything, because e see-am say my hand dey clean; and I no do you any bad thing, O king.”
23 The king happy no be small, and e command say make them bring Daniel come out from the pit. When them bring Daniel come out from the pit, no bad thing don happen to-am at all, because e trust im God.
24 Then the king give command, and them bring the men wey talk against* Daniel, and them throw them for inside the pit wey lions dey, together with their sons and their wives. Before them reach the bottom of the pit, the lions don attack them and break all their bones.
25 Then King Da·riʹus write to all the people, nations, and language groups wey de live for the whole earth say: “Make una peace de plenty more-more!
26 l de give command say for every area for my kingdom, make people de shake with fear for front of the God of Daniel, because na im be the God wey dey alive and e de live forever. Them no go ever destroy im kingdom, and e de rule forever.*
27 E de free people, de save people and e de do signs and wonderful things for the heavens and for the earth, because e don save Daniel from the hand of lions.”
28 So things go well for this Daniel for the kingdom of Da·riʹus and for the kingdom of Cyrus wey be Persia person.
