Jesus teaches Nicodemus, a Samaritan woman, and the people of Nazareth but is met with a mixed response. This episode includes the following accounts:

• Jesus explains birth from water and spirit to Nicodemus (John 3:1-13)

• God sent his only-begotten Son, not to judge the world, but to save it (John 3:16-21)

• The Samaritan woman witnesses to others (John 4:27-30)

• Jesus compares doing God’s will to food; he talks about spiritual harvest (John 4:31-38)

• Many Samaritans believe in Jesus as “the savior of the world” (John 4:39-42)
