Jonah 2:1-10

  • Prayer wey Jonah pray inside the fish (1-9)

2  Then Joʹnah pray to Jehovah im God from inside the fish belle, 2  and e talk say: “When I dey inside problem I call Jehovah, and e answer me. When I dey inside-inside* Grave,* I cry for help. You hear my voice.  3  When you throw me go down-down inside the open sea,*Then the water wey de move cover me. All your waves pass ontop my head.  4  And I talk say, ‘Them don drive me comot from your front! How I go fit look your holy temple again?’  5  Water cover me and put my life for danger;*The deep water swallow me go down. Weed plants wrap my head round.  6  I sink go down go reach the bottom of the mountains. The gates of the earth be don de close me inside forever. But you bring my life come out from the pit, O Jehovah my God.  7  When my life* don de go, na Jehovah be the Person wey I remember. Then my prayer reach you inside your holy temple.  8  The people wey de worship useless idols don leave the person wey them de get love wey no de fail from.*  9  But as for me, I go use my voice thank you and do sacrifice to you. Wetin I don promise, I go pay. Na Jehovah de save person.” 10  After some time, Jehovah command the fish and e vomit Joʹnah come out for dry land.
