The Second Book of Samuel 13:1-39
13 Now, Ab′sa·lom wey be David son get one fine sister wey im name na Ta′mar, and another of David son wey im name na Am′non really like the girl.
2 The thing worry Am′non sotey e start to sick because of im sister Ta′mar, because Ta′mar na virgin and e be like say Am′non no go fit do-am anything.
3 Am′non get one friend wey im name na Je·hon′a·dab, the son of Shim′e·ah, wey be David brother; and Je·hon′a·dab get cunning sense well-well.
4 So e ask Am′non say: “Why you wey be king son de always dey sad every morning? Tell me.” Then Am′non answer-am say: “I really like Ta′mar, the sister of my brother Ab′sa·lom.”
5 Then Je·hon′a·dab tell-am say: “Make you lie down for your bed and pretend like say you de sick. When your papa come see you, tell-am say, ‘Abeg, make my sister Ta′mar come give me some food. If e cook that food wey them de give person wey de sick for my front, I go chop-am from im hand.’”
6 So Am′non lie down and pretend like say e de sick, and the king come inside come see-am. Then Am′non tell the king say: “Abeg, make my sister Ta′mar come inside, and bake two cakes for my front wey the shape be like heart, so that I go take the food from im hand.”
7 So David send message to Ta′mar for house say: “Abeg, go the house of Am′non your brother, so that you go cook food* for-am.”
8 So Ta′mar go Am′non im brother house, where Am′non be lie down. Ta′mar carry the flour wey them don mix, use-am do cakes for Am′non front and bake the cakes.
9 Then e carry the pan wey the cakes dey inside give Am′non. But Am′non no gree chop, and e talk say: “Make everybody comot!” So everybody comot leave-am.
10 Am′non come tell Ta′mar say: “Bring the food* inside the bedroom, so that I go chop-am from your hand.” So Ta′mar carry the cakes wey e make, wey the shape be like heart, and bring them come meet im brother Am′non inside the bedroom.
11 When Ta′mar carry them come give-am make e chop, e grab Ta′mar and talk say: “My sister, come sleep with me.”
12 But Ta′mar tell-am say: “No, my brother! No disgrace me, because this kind thing no de happen for Israel. No do this kind thing wey de bring shame.
13 How I go fit comot this shame for my body? And people go de see you as one of the useless men for Israel. Abeg, go talk with the king because e go gree give me to you.”
14 But e no gree listen to-am, instead, e disgrace-am as e use power hold-am and sleep with-am by force.
15 After Am′non don sleep with Ta′mar, e come hate Ta′mar well-well, sotey the way e hate-am even pass the way e love-am before. Am′non come tell-am say: “Stand up, comot from here!”
16 So Ta′mar tell-am say: “No do like that my brother, because to pursue me comot now even bad pass wetin you don do me!” But e no gree listen to-am.
17 Then Am′non call im young servant and tell-am say: “Pursue this person comot from my front and lock the door.”
18 (That time, Ta′mar wear one special cloth, because na those kind cloths the daughters of the king wey be virgin de wear.) So Am′non servant take Ta′mar go outside and lock the door.
19 Then Ta′mar put ashes for im head, tear the fine cloth wey e wear, and e just carry hand for head and waka comot, and e de cry as e de waka.
20 Ab′sa·lom im brother come ask-am say: “Na your brother Am′non do you this thing? Now my sister, make you no let people know about this thing. Na your brother e be, make you no continue to think about this matter.” Ta′mar come de stay alone for the house of im brother Ab′sa·lom.
21 When King David hear all this things, e vex no be small, but e no want do anything wey go make Am′non im son vex, because e love-am, and that na because na im be im firstborn.
22 And Ab′sa·lom no tell Am′non anything, whether bad thing or good thing, because Ab′sa·lom hate Am′non as e be say e disgrace im sister Ta′mar.
23 After two complete years, Ab′sa·lom come get people wey de remove hair from im sheep body for Ba′al-ha′zor wey near E′phra·im, and Ab′sa·lom invite all the sons of the king say make them come do party.
24 So Ab′sa·lom come inside come meet the king and talk say: “Them de remove hair from the sheep of your servant. Abeg make the king and im servants follow me go.”
25 But the king tell Ab′sa·lom say: “No my son, if all of us follow you go, we go be load for you.” Even though say Ab′sa·lom continue to beg-am, e no gree follow-am go, but e bless-am.
26 Then Ab′sa·lom tell-am say: “If you no go, abeg allow my brother Am′non make e follow us go.” The king come ask-am say: “Why e go follow you go?”
27 But Ab′sa·lom continue to beg-am, so e say make Am′non and all the sons of the king follow-am go.
28 Then Ab′sa·lom command im servants say: “Make una watch, and when una see say Am′non de happy because of the wine, I go tell una say, ‘Make una kill Am′non!’ Then una must kill-am. Make una no fear. Na me de command una. Make una dey strong and get strong heart.”
29 So Ab′sa·lom servants do Am′non exactly as Ab′sa·lom say make them do. Then all the other sons of the king stand up, each of them come climb im mule* and run comot.
30 As them still dey road, the news come reach David say: “Ab′sa·lom don kill all the sons of the king, no one among them survive.”
31 When the king hear this one, e stand up, tear im cloths, and lie down for ground, and all im servants stand for there and them tear their cloths too.
32 But Je·hon′a·dab the son of Shim′e·ah, wey be David brother, talk say: “Make my lord no think say them don kill all the young sons of the king, because na only Am′non die. Na Ab′sa·lom command say make them kill-am. Na from the day wey Am′non disgrace im sister Ta′mar e decide say e go do this one.
33 Make my lord the king no put mind* for wetin them talk say, ‘All the king sons don die’; na only Am′non die.”
34 That time, Ab′sa·lom don run comot. After, when the watchman raise im face, e see say plenty people de come from the road wey dey im back, wey dey near the mountain.
35 So Je·hon′a·dab tell the king say: “See! The sons of the king don come back, just as your servant talk.”
36 As e talk finish, the king sons come enter and them de cry with loud voice. The king and all im servants cry well-well too.
37 But Ab′sa·lom run go meet the king of Gesh′ur, wey im name na Tal′mai, wey be the son of Am·mi′hud. David mourn im son for many days.
38 After Ab′sa·lom run go Gesh′ur, e stay there for three years.
39 At last, e come de hungry King David to go meet Ab′sa·lom, because e no de too pain-am again say Am′non die.
