7 Ngoba lo Melkhizedeki, inkosi yaseSalema, umpristi kaNkulunkulu oPhezukonke, wahlangabeza u-Abrahama lapho ebuya ekubulaleni amakhosi wayesembusisa, +
2 futhi u-Abrahama wamnika* okweshumi kwayo yonke into. Okokuqala, igama lakhe lihunyushwa ngokuthi, ‘iNkosi Yokulunga,’ bese futhi eba yinkosi yaseSalema, okungukuthi, “iNkosi Yokuthula.”
3 Njengoba engenayise, engenanina, engenalo uhlu lozalo, engenaso isiqalo sezinsuku noma ukuphela kokuphila, kodwa enziwe waba njengeNdodana kaNkulunkulu, uhlala engumpristi phakade. *+
4 Bhekani ukuthi wayemkhulu kangakanani lo muntu u-Abrahama, inhloko yomndeni,* amnika okweshumi empangweni engcono kakhulu. +
5 Yiqiniso, ngokoMthetho, labo abavela emadodaneni kaLevi + abamukela isikhundla sabo sobupristi kufanele baqoqe okweshumi kubantu, + okungukuthi, kubafowabo, ngisho noma nabo beyinzalo* ka-Abrahama.
6 Kodwa lo muntu ongekho ohlwini lozalo lwabo wathatha okweshumi ku-Abrahama futhi wabusisa lowo okwakwenziwe izithembiso kuye. +
7 Manje akunakuphikwa ukuthi omncane ubusiswa ngomkhulu.
8 Kulesi esinye isimo, ngabantu abafayo abamukela okweshumi, kodwa kulesi esinye, ngothile okufakazwa ngaye ukuthi uyaphila. +
9 Futhi kungashiwo ukuthi ngisho noLevi, owamukela okweshumi, uye wakhokha okweshumi ngo-Abrahama,
10 ngoba ukhokho wakhe wayengakamzali* lapho uMelkhizedeki emhlangabeza. +
11 Uma-ke, ukuphelela kwakutholakala ngobupristi bobuLevi + (ngoba babuyingxenye yoMthetho owanikwa isizwe), sasiyoba khona yini isidingo sokuba kuvele omunye umpristi okuthiwa ungokwendlela kaMelkhizedeki + hhayi ngokwendlela ka-Aroni?
12 Ngoba njengoba ubupristi bushintshwa, kuba khona isidingo sokushintsha noMthetho. +
13 Ngoba umuntu ezishiwo ngokuqondene naye lezi zinto wavela kwesinye isizwe, okungekho muntu kuso oke wakhonza e-altare. +
14 Ngoba kusobala ukuthi iNkosi yethu yavela kwaJuda, + nokho uMose akashongo lutho ngokuvela kwabapristi kuleso sizwe.
15 Lokhu kucaca nakakhulu lapho kuvela omunye umpristi + ofana noMelkhizedeki, +
16 ongabanga umpristi ngokomthetho womyalo oxhomeke enzalweni yenyama, kodwa emandleni okuphila okungenakubhubhiseka. +
17 Ngoba komunye umbhalo kuthiwa ngaye: “Wena ungumpristi kuze kube phakade ngokwendlela kaMelkhizedeki.” +
18 Ngakho-ke, umyalo omdala ushaywa indiva ngenxa yokuthi awunamandla nokuthi awuphumeleli. +
19 Ngoba uMthetho awuphelelisanga lutho, + kodwa ukulethwa kwethemba elingcono, + esisondela ngalo kuNkulunkulu, yikho okwaphelelisa. +
20 Futhi, njengoba nje lokhu kungenziwanga ngaphandle kokufunga isifungo,
21 (ngoba ngempela kukhona abantu ababe abapristi ngaphandle kwesifungo esifungiwe, kodwa lona ube ngumpristi ngesifungo esafungwa yiLowo owathi ngokuphathelene naye: “UJehova* ufungile futhi ngeke awushintshe umqondo,* ‘Wena ungumpristi kuze kube phakade’ ”), +
22 kanjalo uJesu ube yisiqinisekiso* sesivumelwano esingcono. +
23 Ngaphezu kwalokho, baningi okwadingeka babe abapristi ngokulandelana + ngenxa yokuthi ukufa kwabavimba ukuba baqhubeke beyibo,
24 kodwa ngenxa yokuthi yena uqhubeka ephila kuze kube phakade, + akekho olandela esikhundleni sakhe sobupristi.
25 Ngakho uyakwazi nokusindisa ngokuphelele labo abasondela kuNkulunkulu ngaye, ngoba uyaphila ngaso sonke isikhathi ukuze abancengele. +
26 Kuyafaneleka ukuba sibe nompristi ophakeme njengalona, othembekile, omsulwa, ongangcolile, + ohlukanisiwe nezoni, futhi ophakanyiswe ngaphezu kwamazulu. +
27 Ngokungafani nalabo bapristi abaphakeme, akudingeki ukuba anikele imihlatshelo nsuku zonke, + ngenxa yezono zakhe nangenxa yezabantu, + ngoba lokhu wakwenza kwaba kanye kuphela lapho ezinikela. +
28 Ngoba uMthetho umisa abantu abanesono ukuba babe abapristi abaphakeme, + kodwa isifungo + esafungwa ngemva koMthetho simisa iNdodana, eyenziwe yaphelela + kuze kube phakade.
