NgeSonto, ngoNisani 16, abafundi badangele. Abaqondi ukuthi kungani ithuna lingenamuntu. (Mathewu 28:9, 10; Luka 24:11) Njengoba usuku seluphela, uKleyophase nomunye umfundi, bayasuka eJerusalema balibangise e-Emawuse, eqhele ngamakhilomitha angu-11.

Njengoba besendleleni, bakhuluma ngalokho okwenzekile. Kube sekuqhamuka umuntu abangamazi ahambisane nabo. Uyabuza: “Ibimayelana nani le ndaba eshubile ebeniphikisana ngayo endleleni?” UKleyophase uyambuza: “Kwenzeka kanjani ukuba ungazazi izinto ezisanda kwenzeka eJerusalema ube uhlala khona? Uyisihambi yini?” Lo muntu uyabuza: “Zinto zini?”—Luka 24:17-19.

Bathi: “Izinto eziphathelene noJesu umNazaretha. . . . Besinethemba lokuthi nguye owayezokhulula u-Israyeli.”—Luka 24:19-21.

UKleyophase nayehamba naye, bayaqhubeka bemxoxela ngezinto ezazenzekile ngalolo suku. Bathi abanye abesifazane abaye ethuneni uJesu ayengcwatshwe kulo, bafike ethuneni kukhala ibhungane nokuthi laba besifazane bazibonele ngawabo isenzakalo esingavamile—ukubonakala kwezingelosi ezithe uJesu uyaphila. Bathi kukhona nabanye abayile ethuneni “bathola kunjengoba nje abesifazane bebeshilo.”—Luka 24:24.

Kuyacaca ukuthi laba bafundi ababili kubadidile lokhu okwenzekile. Lo muntu ukhuluma ngegunya, alungise ukucabanga kwabo okuyiphutha okuthonya izinhliziyo zabo, uthi: “O nina bantu abangenangqondo nabangasheshi ukukholwa yizo zonke izinto ezikhulunywe abaprofethi! Kwakungadingekile yini ukuba uKristu ehlelwe yizo zonke lezi zinto bese engena enkazimulweni yakhe?” (Luka 24:25, 26) Uyaqhubeka nokubachazela imiBhalo eminingi ekhuluma ngoKristu.

Ekugcineni bobathathu bayafika e-Emawuse. Laba bafundi ababili bafuna ukwazi okwengeziwe, ngakho bancenga lo muntu bathi: “Hlala nathi ngoba sekuyahwalala futhi ilanga selishonile.” Uyavuma ukuhlala futhi badla ndawonye. Njengoba lo muntu ethandaza, ehlephula isinkwa, ebanika sona, bayabona ukuthi ungubani kodwa uyanyamalala. (Luka 24:29-31) Manje bayaqiniseka ukuthi ngempela uJesu uyaphila!

Bejabule kakhulu, laba bafundi ababili bathi ngalokho abakubonile: “Izinhliziyo zethu bezingavuthi yini njengoba ebekhuluma nathi endleleni, njengoba ebesikhanyisela imiBhalo ngokugcwele?” (Luka 24:32) Babuyela eJerusalema ngokushesha, bafike bathole abaphostoli nabanye. Ngaphambi kokuba uKleyophase nayehamba naye babike lokho abakubonile, bezwa abanye bethi: “Ngempela iNkosi ivusiwe futhi ibonakele kuSimoni!” (Luka 24:34) Ngakho laba ababili baxoxa ngokuthi uJesu ubonakale kanjani kubo. Yebo, nabo bangofakazi bokuzibonela.

Bonke bashaqekile—uJesu usendlini! Abakukholwa abakubonayo ngoba bayikhiyile iminyango besaba amaJuda. Noma kunjalo, uJesu umi lapho phakathi kwabo. Ngomoya ophansi uthi: “Kwangathi ningaba nokuthula.” Kodwa bathukile. Njengoba kwake kwenzeka ngaphambilini, ‘bacabanga ukuthi babona umoya.’—Luka 24:36, 37; Mathewu 14:25-27.

Ukuze ababonise ukuthi akuwona umbono noma into esezingqondweni zabo, kunalokho unomzimba wenyama, uJesu ubakhombisa izandla nezinyawo zakhe bese ethi: “Kungani nikhathazekile, futhi kungani kuvela ukungabaza ezinhliziyweni zenu? Bukani izandla zami nezinyawo zami, ukuthi yimina uqobo; ngithinteni nibone, ngoba umoya awunayo inyama namathambo njengoba nje nibona ukuthi mina nginakho.” (Luka 24:36-39) Bagajwe yinjabulo futhi  bamangele kodwa kusekhona ukungabaza okuncane.

Eqhubeka ezama ukubasiza babone ukuthi uyaphila, uyababuza: “Ninakho lapho okudliwayo?” Bamnika inhlanzi eyosiwe, ayidle. Ube esethi: “Lawa amazwi ami engawakhuluma kini ngesikhathi ngisenani [ngaphambi kokuba ngife], ukuthi zonke izinto ezilotshwe ngami eMthethweni KaMose nakubaProfethi nakumaHubo kumelwe zigcwaliseke.”—Luka 24:41-44.

UJesu usize uKleyophase nomngane wakhe ukuba baqonde imiBhalo, kodwa manje usesiza bonke ababuthene lapho: “Nakhu okulotshiwe: ukuthi uKristu uyohlupheka futhi avuke kwabafile ngosuku lwesithathu, ngegama lakhe kuyoshunyayelwa ukuphenduka ngenjongo yokuthethelelwa kwezono kuzo zonke izizwe—kusukela eJerusalema. Kumelwe nibe ofakazi balezi zinto.”—Luka 24:46-48.

Ngasizathu simbe, uTomase akekho lapho. Ezinsukwini ezilandelayo, abanye bathi kuye ngenjabulo: “Siyibonile iNkosi!” UTomase uthi: “Ngaphandle kokuba ngibone amanxeba ezipikili ezandleni zayo futhi ngifake umunwe wami kulawo manxeba ezipikili, ngibeke nesandla sami ohlangothini lwayo, ngeke ngikholwe.”—Johane 20:25.

Ngemva kwezinsuku ezingu-8, abafundi baphinde bahlangane futhi bakhiya iminyango, kulokhu uTomase ukhona. Babona uJesu ewumzimba wenyama bese ebabingelela: “Kwangathi ningaba nokuthula.” UJesu ukhuluma noTomase athi: “Faka umunwe wakho lapha, ubone izandla zami, uthathe isandla sakho uthinte uhlangothi lwami, uyeke ukungabaza kodwa ukholwe.” UTomase uyamemeza athi: “Nkosi yami, Nkulunkulu wami!” (Johane 20:26-28) Manje akangabazi ukuthi uJesu uyaphila futhi uyisidalwa esivela ezulwini esingummeleli kaJehova uNkulunkulu.

UJesu uthi: “Ingabe usuyakholwa ngoba usungibonile? Bayajabula labo okuthi nakuba bengabonanga nokho bakholwe.”—Johane 20:29.
