Luke 21:1-38

21  ᾿Αναβλέψας Having looked up δὲ butεἶδεν he sawτοὺς the (ones)βάλλοντας throwingεἰς intoτὸ theγαζοφυλάκιον treasury chestτὰ theδῶρα giftsαὐτῶν of themπλουσίους. rich [men]. 2  εἶδεν He saw δέ butτινα someχήραν widowπενιχρὰν needyβάλλουσαν throwingἐκεῖ thereλεπτὰ leptaδύο, two, 3  καὶ and εἶπεν he said᾿Αληθῶς Trulyλέγω I am sayingὑμῖν to YOUὅτι thattheχήρα widowαὕτη thistheπτωχὴ poor (one)πλεῖον moreπάντων of all (them)ἔβαλεν· threw; 4  πάντες all γὰρ forοὗτοι theseἐκ out ofτοῦ theπερισσεύοντος aboundingαὐτοῖς to themἔβαλον threwεἰς intoτὰ theδῶρα, gifts,αὕτη this [woman]δὲ butἐκ out ofτοῦ theὑστερήματος wantαὐτῆς of herπάντα allτὸν theβίον livingὃν whichεἶχεν she was havingἔβαλεν. threw. 5  Καὶ And τινων of someλεγόντων sayingπερὶ aboutτοῦ theἱεροῦ, temple,ὅτι thatλίθοις to stonesκαλοῖς fineκαὶ andἀναθήμασιν things placed upκεκόσμηται, it has been adorned, 6  εἶπεν he said Ταῦτα These (things)whichθεωρεῖτε, YOU are beholding,ἐλεύσονται will comeἡμέραι daysἐν inαἷς whichοὐκ notἀφεθήσεται will be let go offλίθος stoneἐπὶ uponλίθῳ stoneὧδε hereὃς whichοὐ notκαταλυθήσεται. will be loosed down. 7  ἐπηρώτησαν They inquired upon δὲ butαὐτὸν himλέγοντες sayingΔιδάσκαλε, Teacher,πότε whenοὖν thereforeταῦτα these (things)ἔσται, will be,καὶ andτί whatτὸ theσημεῖον signὅταν wheneverμέλλῃ may be aboutταῦτα these (things)γίνεσθαι; to be occurring? 8  The (one) δὲ butεἶπεν saidΒλέπετε Be YOU looking atμὴ notπλανηθῆτε· YOU might be made to err;πολλοὶ manyγὰρ forἐλεύσονται will comeἐπὶ uponτῷ theὀνόματί nameμου of meλέγοντες saying᾿Εγώ Iεἰμι, am,καί andTheκαιρὸς appointed timeἤγγικεν· has approached;μὴ notπορευθῆτε YOU should goὀπίσω behindαὐτῶν. them. 9  ὅταν Whenever δὲ butἀκούσητε YOU might hearπολέμους warsκαὶ andἀκαταστασίας, disorders,μὴ notπτοηθῆτε· YOU should be terrified;δεῖ it is necessaryγὰρ forταῦτα these (things)γενέσθαι to occurπρῶτον, first,ἀλλ’ butοὐκ notεὐθέως immediatelyτὸ theτέλος. end. 10  Τότε Then ἔλεγεν he was sayingαὐτοῖς to them᾿Εγερθήσεται Will be rousedἔθνος nationἐπ’ uponἔθνος nationκαὶ andβασιλεία kingdomἐπὶ uponβασιλείαν, kingdom, 11  σεισμοί [earth]quakes τε andμεγάλοι greatκαὶ andκατὰ according toτόπους placesλοιμοὶ pestilencesκαὶ andλιμοὶ faminesἔσονται, will be,φόβηθρά fearful sightsτε andκαὶ alsoἀπ’ fromοὐρανοῦ heavenσημεῖα signsμεγάλα greatἔσται. will be. 12  πρὸ Before δὲ butτούτων these (things)πάντων allἐπιβαλοῦσιν they will imposeἐφ’ uponὑμᾶς YOUτὰς theχεῖρας handsαὐτῶν of themκαὶ andδιώξουσιν, they will persecute,παραδιδόντες giving besideεἰς intoτὰς theσυναγωγὰς synagoguesκαὶ andφυλακάς, prisons,ἀπαγομένους being led offἐπὶ uponβασιλεῖς kingsκαὶ andἡγεμόνας governorsἕνεκεν on accountτοῦ of theὀνόματός nameμου· of me; 13  ἀποβήσεται it will step from ὑμῖν to YOUεἰς intoμαρτύριον. witness. 14  θέτε YOU put οὖν thereforeἐν inταῖς theκαρδίαις heartsὑμῶν of YOUμὴ notπρομελετᾷν to be premeditatingἀπολογηθῆναι, to make defense, 15  ἐγὼ I γὰρ forδώσω shall giveὑμῖν to YOUστόμα mouthκαὶ andσοφίαν wisdomto whichοὐ notδυνήσονται will be ableἀντιστῆναι to resistorἀντειπεῖν to contradictἅπαντες allοἱ theἀντικείμενοι ones lying againstὑμῖν. to YOU. 16  παραδοθήσεσθε YOU will be given beside δὲ butκαὶ alsoὑπὸ byγονέων parentsκαὶ andἀδελφῶν brothersκαὶ andσυγγενῶν relativesκαὶ andφίλων, friends,καὶ andθανατώσουσιν they will put to deathἐξ out ofὑμῶν, YOU, 17  καὶ and ἔσεσθε YOU will beμισούμενοι being hatedὑπὸ byπάντων allδιὰ throughτὸ theὄνομά nameμου. of me. 18  καὶ And θρὶξ hairἐκ out ofτῆς theκεφαλῆς headὑμῶν of YOUοὐ notμὴ notἀπόληται. should perish. 19  ἐν In τῇ theὑπομονῇ enduranceὑμῶν of YOUκτήσεσθε YOU will acquireτὰς theψυχὰς soulsὑμῶν. of YOU. 20  Ὅταν Whenever δὲ butἴδητε YOU might seeκυκλουμένην being encircledὑπὸ byστρατοπέδων encamped armiesἸερουσαλήμ, Jerusalem,τότε thenγνῶτε know YOUὅτι thatἤγγικεν has drawn neartheἐρήμωσις desolationαὐτῆς. of her. 21  τότε Then οἱ the (ones)ἐν inτῇ theἸουδαίᾳ Judeaφευγέτωσαν let them be fleeingεἰς intoτὰ theὄρη, mountains,καὶ andοἱ the (ones)ἐν inμέσῳ midstαὐτῆς of herἐκχωρείτωσαν, let them depart out,καὶ andοἱ the (ones)ἐν inταῖς theχώραις regionsμὴ notεἰσερχέσθωσαν let them enterεἰς intoαὐτήν, her, 22  ὅτι because ἡμέραι daysἐκδικήσεως of vengeanceαὗταί theseεἰσιν areτοῦ of theπλησθῆναι to be fulfilledπάντα allτὰ the (things)γεγραμμένα. having been written. 23  οὐαὶ Woe ταῖς to the (ones)ἐν inγαστρὶ bellyἐχούσαις havingκαὶ andταῖς to the (ones)θηλαζούσαις giving suckἐν inἐκείναις thoseταῖς theἡμέραις· days;ἔσται will beγὰρ forἀνάγκη necessityμεγάλη greatἐπὶ uponτῆς theγῆς earthκαὶ andὀργὴ wrathτῷ to theλαῷ peopleτούτῳ, this, 24  καὶ and πεσοῦνται they will fallστόματι to mouthμαχαίρης of swordκαὶ andαἰχμαλωτισθήσονται they will be led captiveεἰς intoτὰ theἔθνη nationsπάντα, all,καὶ andἸερουσαλὴμ Jerusalemἔσται will beπατουμένη being trampledὑπὸ byἐθνῶν, nations,ἄχρι untilοὗ what [time]πληρωθῶσιν should be fulfilledκαὶ andἔσονται will beκαιροὶ appointed timesἐθνῶν. of nations. 25  καὶ And ἔσονται will beσημεῖα signsἐν inἡλίῳ sunκαὶ andσελήνῃ moonκαὶ andἄστροις, stars,καὶ andἐπὶ uponτῆς theγῆς earthσυνοχὴ anguishἐθνῶν of nationsἐν inἀπορίᾳ perplexityἠχοῦς of noiseθαλάσσης of seaκαὶ andσάλου, of agitation, 26  ἀποψυχόντων fainting ἀνθρώπων of menἀπὸ fromφόβου fearκαὶ andπροσδοκίας expectationτῶν of the (things)ἐπερχομένων coming uponτῇ theοἰκουμένῃ, being inhabited [earth],αἱ theγὰρ forδυνάμεις powersτῶν of theοὐρανῶν heavensσαλευθήσονται. will be shaken. 27  καὶ And τότε thenὄψονται they will seeτὸν theυἱὸν Sonτοῦ of theἀνθρώπου manἐρχόμενον comingἐν inνεφέλῃ cloudμετὰ withδυνάμεως powerκαὶ andδόξης gloryπολλῆς. much. 28  ᾿Αρχομένων Starting δὲ butτούτων of these (things)γίνεσθαι to be occurringἀνακύψατε bend yourselves upκαὶ andἐπάρατε lift YOU uponτὰς theκεφαλὰς headsὑμῶν, of YOU,διότι becauseἐγγίζει is drawing neartheἀπολύτρωσις deliveranceὑμῶν. of YOU. 29  Καὶ And εἶπεν he saidπαραβολὴν parableαὐτοῖς to themἼδετε See YOUτὴν theσυκῆν fig treeκαὶ andπάντα allτὰ theδένδρα· trees; 30  ὅταν whenever προβάλωσιν they might shoot forthἤδη, already,βλέποντες looking atἀφ’ fromἑαυτῶν selvesγινώσκετε YOU are knowingὅτι thatἤδη alreadyἐγγὺς nearτὸ theθέρος summerἐστίν· is; 31  οὕτως thus καὶ alsoὑμεῖς, YOU,ὅταν wheneverἴδητε YOU might seeταῦτα these (things)γινόμενα, occurring,γινώσκετε be knowing YOUὅτι thatἐγγύς nearἐστιν istheβασιλεία kingdomτοῦ of theθεοῦ. God. 32  ἀμὴν Amen λέγω I am sayingὑμῖν to YOUὅτι thatοὐ notμὴ notπαρέλθῃ should pass awaytheγενεὰ generationαὕτη thisἕως untilἂν likelyπάντα all (things)γένηται. might occur. 33  The οὐρανὸς heavenκαὶ andtheγῆ earthπαρελεύσονται, will pass away,οἱ theδὲ butλόγοι wordsμου of meοὐ notμὴ notπαρελεύσονται. will pass away. 34  Προσέχετε Be YOU paying attention δὲ butἑαυτοῖς to selvesμή notποτε sometimeβαρηθῶσιν might become weighedαἱ theκαρδίαι heartsὑμῶν of YOUἐν inκρεπάλῃ overeatingκαὶ andμέθῃ drunkennessκαὶ andμερίμναις anxietiesβιωτικαῖς, belonging to life,καὶ andἐπιστῇ might stand onἐφ’ uponὑμᾶς YOUἐφνίδιος suddentheἡμέρα dayἐκείνη that 35  ὡς as παγίς· snare;ἐπεισελεύσεται it will come in onγὰρ forἐπὶ uponπάντας allτοὺς the (ones)καθημένους sittingἐπὶ uponπρόσωπον faceπάσης of allτῆς theγῆς. earth. 36  ἀγρυπνεῖτε Be keeping sleepless δὲ butἐν inπαντὶ allκαιρῷ appointed timeδεόμενοι supplicatingἵνα in order thatκατισχύσητε YOU might be strongἐκφυγεῖν to flee out ofταῦτα theseπάντα allτὰ the (things)μέλλοντα being aboutγίνεσθαι, to be occurring,καὶ andσταθῆναι to standἔμπροσθεν in frontτοῦ of theυἱοῦ Sonτοῦ of theἀνθρώπου. man. 37  ῏Ην He was δὲ butτὰς theἡμέρας daysἐν inτῷ theἱερῷ templeδιδάσκων, teaching,τὰς theδὲ butνύκτας nightsἐξερχόμενος going outηὐλίζετο he was lodgingεἰς intoτὸ theὄρος mountainτὸ the (one)καλούμενον being called᾿Ελαιῶν· of Olives; 38  καὶ and πᾶς alltheλαὸς peopleὤρθριζεν was coming earlyπρὸς towardαὐτὸν himἐν inτῷ theἱερῷ templeἀκούειν to be hearingαὐτοῦ. of him.
