Watch Streaming Content on TV.JW.ORG

The Streaming section of tv.jw.org is similar to television in that it contains a number of channels with programmed content. Select a channel to watch the current broadcast. If you want to control the playback (that is, to watch a video from the beginning and be able to pause, rewind, or fast forward), go to the Video on Demand section.

Follow these instructions to watch streaming content:

Watch a Streaming Channel on a Computer

Click the Streaming button. The default channel loads, and the currently scheduled video plays.

  • To see the video in full-screen mode, move the mouse cursor over the video, then click the Full-Screen icon.

  • To exit full-screen mode, press the Escape key or move the mouse cursor over the video, then click the Regular-Size icon.

  • To change the video resolution, move the mouse cursor over the video, then over the Video Settings icon. Click on the desired resolution. (Note: This feature is not supported in all browsers.)

Note: A higher number represents higher video quality, which requires a faster internet connection. Choose the one that works best for your internet speed and screen size. (For more details, see Change Settings for Your Computer or Device.)

  • To change the volume, move the mouse cursor over the video, then over the Volume icon. Slide the volume indicator up or down to increase or decrease the volume.

Click Play From Beginning to leave the streaming channel and see the current video in the Video on Demand section.

Tip: Go to User Settings to control which streaming channel first loads on your computer when you click Streaming.

If you watch a streaming channel for an extended amount of time without changing the channel, the broadcast will be interrupted by a message asking if you are still watching. The reason for the message is that it costs money to stream each video program, so we do not want to continue broadcasting a program if no-one is watching. If you are still watching, press OK to return to the streaming channel.

Watch a Streaming Channel on a Mobile Device

Note: There are slight differences in the behavior of mobile devices with different size screens and different operating systems. Some of these differences are indicated in the instructions below.

On a larger mobile device, such as a tablet, press the Streaming button. The default channel loads.

On a smaller mobile device, such as a smartphone, press the Menu button. Press Streaming to load the default channel, or press the Down Arrow to the right of Streaming and then select a streaming channel.

Press the Play icon to start the video.

  • To play the video in full-screen mode, double-tap the video, or tap the video and then press the Full Screen icon.

Note: In full-screen mode the device’s video controls (pause, play, fast forward, rewind) may display but their functions are disabled.

  • iOS: To exit full-screen mode, tap the full-screen video, then press the Regular Screen icon or the Done button.

Android: To exit full-screen mode, tap the full-screen video, then press the Android Back button.

Windows Mobile: To exit full-screen mode, press the Back button on your device.

  • To change the video resolution, tap the video and then the Video Settings icon. Select the desired resolution. (Note: This feature is not supported on all mobile devices.)

Note: A higher number represents higher video quality, which requires a faster internet connection. Choose the one that works best for your internet speed and screen size. (For more details, see Change Settings for Your Computer or Device.)

To see what is coming up next, press the Channel Guide button. On a smaller mobile device, scroll down.

Press Play from the Beginning to leave the streaming channel and see the current video in the Video on Demand section.

Tip: Go to Settings to control which streaming channel first loads on your device when you click Streaming.

Select a Different Channel on a Computer or Tablet

When video is streaming in regular mode (not full-screen mode), a list of available channels appears below the video. Click or press a channel title to switch to that channel.

On a computer or tablet, the channels are shown across the bottom of the screen. The currently playing channel is highlighted with a blue line above the channel title.

Click or press the Left Arrow or Right Arrow to see additional channels. Click or press a channel title to switch to that channel.

On a computer, the current video in the selected channel begins playing immediately. On iOS and Android devices, you need to press the Play icon to start playing the video.

Select a Different Channel on a Smartphone

When video is streaming in regular mode (not full-screen mode), a list of available channels appears below the video. Press a channel title to switch to that channel.

In portrait mode on a small mobile device, such as a smartphone, the streaming channels are shown in a vertical list below the video. The current channel is highlighted with a blue line above the channel title. Press the Down Arrow to the right of a channel name to show what is currently playing on that channel. Scroll down the list to see upcoming shows, their durations, and starting times.

Press the Up Arrow to close the listing for that channel.

Press a channel title to select that channel, then press the Play icon to start playing the current video on that channel.

 Consult the Channel Guide

On a computer or tablet, the Channel Guide is available from regular viewing mode (not full-screen mode). If you are using a smaller mobile device, such as a smartphone, see Select a Different Channel on a Smartphone.

Click or press the Channel Guide button to show a list of all available channels and the upcoming shows on each channel.

Each column represents a channel. The video currently playing on the channel is shown at the top of the column. Upcoming shows, along with their durations and start times, are listed below.

Click the Left Arrow or Right arrow to scroll through the list of channels. Click on a channel to dismiss the channel guide and switch to the selected channel.

Note: The starting times shown in the Channel Guide are calculated according to your local time zone (that is, the time zone of the computer or device on which you are watching). This means that not all viewers of a channel will be watching the same video at the same time. For example, if you are watching a video at 7:00 p.m., a person watching the same channel in the time zone to your east will have seen that video an hour before you, when his local time was 7:00 pm. A viewer in the time zone to your west will watch that video an hour later, when his local time is 7:00 p.m.

Click or press the Channel Guide button again to dismiss the channel guide and return to the video.
