Titus 1:1-16

1  Παῦλος Paulδοῦλος slaveθεοῦ, of God,ἀπόστολος apostleδὲ butἸησοῦ of JesusΧριστοῦ Christκατὰ according toπίστιν faithἐκλεκτῶν of chosen (ones)θεοῦ of Godκαὶ andἐπίγνωσιν accurate knowledgeἀληθείας of truthτῆς the (one)κατ’ according toεὐσέβειαν revering well 2  ἐπ’ uponἐλπίδι hopeζωῆς of lifeαἰωνίου, everlasting,ἣν whichἐπηγγείλατο promisedtheἀψευδὴς not lyingθεὸς Godπρὸ beforeχρόνων timesαἰωνίων everlasting 3  ἐφανέρωσεν he manifestedδὲ butκαιροῖς to appointed timesἰδίοις, own,τὸν theλόγον wordαὐτοῦ of himἐν inκηρύγματι preachingwhichἐπιστεύθην was entrusted withἐγὼ Iκατ’ according toἐπιταγὴν enjoinderτοῦ of theσωτῆρος Saviorἡμῶν of usθεοῦ, of God, 4  Τίτῳ to Titusγνησίῳ genuineτέκνῳ childκατὰ according toκοινὴν commonπίστιν· faith; χάρις undeserved kindnessκαὶ andεἰρήνη peaceἀπὸ fromθεοῦ Godπατρὸς Fatherκαὶ andΧριστοῦ of ChristἸησοῦ Jesusτοῦ of theσωτῆρος Saviorἡμῶν. of us. 5  Τούτου Of thisχάριν thanksἀπέλιπόν I left offσε youἐν inΚρήτῃ Creteἵνα in order thatτὰ the (things)λείποντα being wantingἐπιδιορθώσῃ, you might thoroughly straighten upon,καὶ andκαταστήσῃς you might set downκατὰ according toπόλιν cityπρεσβυτέρους, older men,ὡς asἐγώ Iσοι to youδιεταξάμην, I ordered, 6  εἴ ifτίς anyoneἐστιν isἀνέγκλητος, unaccusable,μιᾶς of theγυναικὸς womanἀνήρ, male person,τέκνα childrenἔχων havingπιστά, faithful,μὴ notἐν inκατηγορίᾳ accusationἀσωτίας of unsaving courseorἀνυπότακτα. not self-subjecting. 7  δεῖ It is bindingγὰρ forτὸν theἐπίσκοπον overseerἀνέγκλητον unaccusableεἶναι to beὡς asθεοῦ of Godοἰκονόμον, house administrator,μὴ notαὐθάδη, self-pleasing,μὴ notὀργίλον, prone to wrath,μὴ notπάροινον, one beside wine,μὴ notπλήκτην, dealer of blows,μὴ notαἰσχροκερδῆ, greedy of disgraceful gain, 8  ἀλλὰ butφιλόξενον, fond of strangers,φιλάγαθον, fond of goodness,σώφρονα, sound in mind,δίκαιον, righteous,ὅσιον, loyal,ἐγκρατῆ, self-controlled, 9  ἀντεχόμενον holding self againstτοῦ of theκατὰ according toτὴν theδιδαχὴν teachingπιστοῦ of faithfulλόγου, word,ἵνα in order thatδυνατὸς ablehe may beκαὶ andπαρακαλεῖν to be encouragingἐν inτῇ theδιδασκαλίᾳ teachingτῇ the (one)ὑγιαινούσῃ being healthfulκαὶ andτοὺς the (ones)ἀντιλέγοντας contradictingἐλέγχειν. to be reproving. 10  Εἰσὶν Areγὰρ forπολλοὶ manyἀνυπότακτοι, not self-subjecting,ματαιολόγοι vain talkersκαὶ andφρεναπάται, seducers of the mind,μάλιστα mostlyοἱ the (ones)ἐκ out ofτῆς theπεριτομῆς, circumcision, 11  οὓς whomδεῖ it is bindingἐπιστομίζειν, to be shutting the mouth of,οἵτινες whoὅλους wholeοἴκους householdsἀνατρέπουσιν they are turning upδιδάσκοντες (ones) teachingwhich (things)μὴ notδεῖ it is bindingαἰσχροῦ of disgracefulκέρδους gainχάριν. thanks. 12  εἶπέν Saidτις someoneἐξ out ofαὐτῶν, them,ἴδιος own (one)αὐτῶν of themπροφήτης, prophet,Κρῆτες Cretansἀεὶ everψεῦσται, liars,κακὰ badθηρία, wild beasts,γαστέρες belliesἀργαί. ineffective. 13  Theμαρτυρία witnessαὕτη thisἐστὶν isἀληθής. true.δι’ Throughἣν whichαἰτίαν causeἔλεγχε be reprovingαὐτοὺς themἀποτόμως, curtly,ἵνα in order thatὑγιαίνωσιν they may be healthyἐν inτῇ theπίστει, faith, 14  μὴ notπροσέχοντες having [mind] towardἸουδαϊκοῖς to Jewishμύθοις mythsκαὶ andἐντολαῖς to commandmentsἀνθρώπων of menἀποστρεφομένων turning selves away fromτὴν theἀλήθειαν. truth. 15  πάντα All (things)καθαρὰ cleanτοῖς to the (ones)καθαροῖς· clean;τοῖς to theδὲ butμεμιαμμένοις having been defiledκαὶ andἀπίστοις faithlessοὐδὲν nothingκαθαρόν, clean,ἀλλὰ butμεμίανται has been defiledαὐτῶν of themκαὶ andtheνοῦς mindκαὶ andtheσυνείδησις. conscience. 16  θεὸν Godὁμολογοῦσιν they are confessingεἰδέναι, to have known,τοῖς to theδὲ butἔργοις worksἀρνοῦνται, they are denying,βδελυκτοὶ detestableὄντες beingκαὶ andἀπειθεῖς disobedientκαὶ andπρὸς towardπᾶν everyἔργον workἀγαθὸν goodἀδόκιμοι. (ones) disapproved.
