Matthew 20:1-34

20  Ὁμοία Likeγάρ forἐστιν istheβασιλεία kingdomτῶν of theοὐρανῶν heavensἀνθρώπῳ to manοἰκοδεσπότῃ householderὅστις whoeverἐξῆλθεν went outἅμα at the same time withπρωὶ early morningμισθώσασθαι to hireἐργάτας workersεἰς intoτὸν theἀμπελῶνα vineyardαὐτοῦ· of him; 2  συμφωνήσας having agreedδὲ butμετὰ withτῶν theἐργατῶν workersἐκ out ofδηναρίου denariusτὴν theἡμέραν dayἀπέστειλεν he sent offαὐτοὺς themεἰς intoτὸν theἀμπελῶνα vineyardαὐτοῦ. of him. 3  καὶ Andἐξελθὼν having gone outπερὶ aboutτρίτην thirdὥραν hourεἶδεν he sawἄλλους othersἑστῶτας standingἐν inτῇ theἀγορᾷ marketἀργούς· unemployed; 4  καὶ andἐκείνοις to thoseεἶπεν he saidὙπάγετε Be going underκαὶ alsoὑμεῖς YOUεἰς intoτὸν theἀμπελῶνα, vineyard,καὶ andwhichἐὰν if evermay beδίκαιον justδώσω I shall giveὑμῖν· to YOU; 5  οἱ the (ones)δὲ butἀπῆλθον. went away.πάλιν Againδὲ butἐξελθὼν having gone outπερὶ aboutἕκτην sixthκαὶ andἐνάτην ninthὥραν hourἐποίησεν he didὡσαύτως. as-thus. 6  περὶ Aboutδὲ butτὴν theἑνδεκάτην eleventhἐξελθὼν having gone outεὗρεν he foundἄλλους othersἑστῶτας, standing,καὶ andλέγει is sayingαὐτοῖς to themΤί Whyὧδε hereἑστήκατε are YOU standingὅλην wholeτὴν theἡμέραν dayἀργοί; unemployed? 7  λέγουσιν They are sayingαὐτῷ to himὍτι Becauseοὐδεὶς nobodyἡμᾶς usἐμισθώσατο· hired;λέγει he is sayingαὐτοῖς to themὙπάγετε Be going underκαὶ alsoὑμεῖς YOUεἰς intoτὸν theἀμπελῶνα. vineyard. 8  ὀψίας Of eveningδὲ butγενομένης having come to beλέγει is sayingtheκύριος lordτοῦ of theἀμπελῶνος vineyardτῷ to theἐπιτρόπῳ man in chargeαὐτοῦ of himΚάλεσον Callτοὺς theἐργάτας workersκαὶ andἀπόδος give backτὸν theμισθὸν wagesἀρξάμενος having startedἀπὸ fromτῶν theἐσχάτων last (ones)ἕως untilτῶν theπρώτων. first (ones). 9  ἐλθόντες Having comeδὲ butοἱ the (ones)περὶ aboutτὴν theἑνδεκάτην eleventhὥραν hourἔλαβον receivedἀνὰ individuallyδηνάριον. denarius. 10  καὶ Andἐλθόντες having comeοἱ theπρῶτοι first (ones)ἐνόμισαν inferredὅτι thatπλεῖον moreλήμψονται· they will receive;καὶ andἔλαβον they receivedτὸ theἀνὰ individuallyδηνάριον denariusκαὶ alsoαὐτοί. they. 11  λαβόντες Having receivedδὲ butἐγόγγυζον they were murmuringκατὰ down onτοῦ theοἰκοδεσπότου householder 12  λέγοντες sayingΟὗτοι Theseοἱ theἔσχατοι last (ones)μίαν oneὥραν hourἐποίησαν, made,καὶ andἴσους equalsαὐτοὺς themἡμῖν to usἐποίησας you madeτοῖς to the (ones)βαστάσασι having borneτὸ theβάρος burdenτῆς of theἡμέρας dayκαὶ andτὸν theκαύσωνα. heat. 13  The (one)δὲ butἀποκριθεὶς having answeredἑνὶ to oneαὐτῶν of themεἶπεν saidἙταῖρε, Fellow,οὐκ notἀδικῶ I am wrongingσε· you;οὐχὶ notδηναρίου of denariusσυνεφώνησάς you agreedμοι; to me? 14  ἆρον Lift upτὸ theσὸν yoursκαὶ andὕπαγε· be going under;θέλω I am willingδὲ butτούτῳ to this oneτῷ theἐσχάτῳ lastδοῦναι to giveὡς asκαὶ alsoσοί· to you; 15  οὐκ notἔξεστίν is it allowedμοι to mewhichθέλω I am willingποιῆσαι to doἐν inτοῖς the (things)ἐμοῖς; my own?Ortheὀφθαλμός eyeσου of youπονηρός wickedἐστιν isὅτι becauseἐγὼ Iἀγαθός goodεἰμι; am? 16  Οὕτως Thusἔσονται will beοἱ theἔσχατοι last (ones)πρῶτοι firstκαὶ andοἱ theπρῶτοι first (ones)ἔσχατοι. last. 17  Μέλλων Being aboutδὲ butἀναβαίνειν to be stepping upἸησοῦς Jesusεἰς intoἸεροσόλυμα Jerusalemπαρέλαβεν took alongτοὺς theδώδεκα twelveμαθητὰς disciplesκατ’ according toἰδίαν, private [spot],καὶ andἐν inτῇ theὁδῷ wayεἶπεν saidαὐτοῖς to them 18  Ἰδοὺ Look!ἀναβαίνομεν We are stepping upεἰς intoἸεροσόλυμα, Jerusalem,καὶ andtheυἱὸς Sonτοῦ of theἀνθρώπου manπαραδοθήσεται will be given overτοῖς to theἀρχιερεῦσιν chief priestsκαὶ andγραμματεῦσιν, to scribes,καὶ andκατακρινοῦσιν they will judge downαὐτὸν himθανάτῳ, to death, 19  καὶ andπαραδώσουσιν will give overαὐτὸν himτοῖς to theἔθνεσιν nationsεἰς intoτὸ theἐμπαῖξαι to make fun ofκαὶ andμαστιγῶσαι to scourgeκαὶ andσταυρῶσαι, to put on the stake,καὶ andτῇ to theτρίτῃ thirdἡμέρᾳ dayἐγερθήσεται. he will be raised up. 20  Τότε Thenπροσῆλθεν came towardαὐτῷ himtheμήτηρ motherτῶν of theυἱῶν sonsΖεβεδαίου of Zebedeeμετὰ withτῶν theυἱῶν sonsαὐτῆς of herπροσκυνοῦσα doing obeisanceκαὶ andαἰτοῦσά askingτι somethingἀπ’ fromαὐτοῦ. him. 21  The (one)δὲ butεἶπεν saidαὐτῇ to herΤί Whatθέλεις; are you willing?λέγει She is sayingαὐτῷ to himΕἰπὲ Sayἵνα in order thatκαθίσωσιν might sitοὗτοι theseοἱ theδύο twoυἱοί sonsμου of meεἷς oneἐκ out ofδεξιῶν right-hand [parts]καὶ andεἷς oneἐξ out ofεὐωνύμων left-hand [parts]σου of youἐν inτῇ theβασιλείᾳ kingdomσου. of you. 22  ἀποκριθεὶς Having answeredδὲ buttheἸησοῦς Jesusεἶπεν saidΟὐκ Notοἴδατε you have knownτί whatαἰτεῖσθε· YOU are asking;δύνασθε are YOU ableπιεῖν to drinkτὸ theποτήριον cupwhichἐγὼ Iμέλλω am aboutπίνειν; to be drinking?λέγουσιν They are sayingαὐτῷ to himΔυνάμεθα. We are able. 23  λέγει He is sayingαὐτοῖς to themΤὸ Theμὲν indeedποτήριόν cupμου of meπίεσθε, you will drink,τὸ theδὲ butκαθίσαι to sitἐκ out ofδεξιῶν right-hand [parts]μου of meκαὶ andἐξ out ofεὐωνύμων left-hand [parts]οὐκ notἔστιν isἐμὸν mineδοῦναι, to give,ἀλλ’ butοἷς to what onesἡτοίμασται it has been preparedὑπὸ byτοῦ theπατρός Fatherμου. of me. 24  καὶ Andἀκούσαντες having heardοἱ the (ones)δέκα tenἠγανάκτησαν became indignantπερὶ aboutτῶν theδύο twoἀδελφῶν. brothers. 25  Theδὲ butἸησοῦς Jesusπροσκαλεσάμενος having called toward himselfαὐτοὺς themεἶπεν saidΟἴδατε YOU knowὅτι thatοἱ theἄρχοντες rulersτῶν of theἐθνῶν nationsκατακυριεύουσιν lord it overαὐτῶν themκαὶ andοἱ theμεγάλοι great (ones)κατεξουσιάζουσιν wield authority overαὐτῶν. them. 26  οὐχ Notοὕτως thusἐστὶν isἐν inὑμῖν· YOU;ἀλλ’ butὃς whoἂν likelyθέλῃ may willἐν inὑμῖν youμέγας greatγενέσθαι to becomeἔσται will beὑμῶν of YOUδιάκονος, servant, 27  καὶ andὃς whoἂν likelyθέλῃ may willἐν inὑμῖν youεἶναι to beπρῶτος first (one)ἔσται will beὑμῶν of YOUδοῦλος· slave; 28  ὥσπερ as-eventheυἱὸς Sonτοῦ of theἀνθρώπου manοὐκ notἦλθεν cameδιακονηθῆναι to be servedἀλλὰ butδιακονῆσαι to serveκαὶ andδοῦναι to giveτὴν theψυχὴν soulαὐτοῦ of himλύτρον ransomἀντὶ instead ofπολλῶν. many. 29  Καὶ Andἐκπορευομένων going their way outαὐτῶν of themἀπὸ fromἸερειχὼ Jerichoἠκολούθησεν followedαὐτῷ to himὄχλος crowdπολύς. much. 30  καὶ Andἰδοὺ look!δύο twoτυφλοὶ blind (ones)καθήμενοι sittingπαρὰ besideτὴν theὁδόν, way,ἀκούσαντες having heardὅτι thatἸησοῦς Jesusπαράγει, is passing by,ἔκραξαν cried outλέγοντες sayingΚύριε, Lord,ἐλέησον have mercy onἡμᾶς, us,υἱὸς SonΔαυείδ. of David. 31  Theδὲ butὄχλος crowdἐπετίμησεν gave rebukeαὐτοῖς to themἵνα in order thatσιωπήσωσιν· they should keep quiet;οἱ the (ones)δὲ butμεῖζον moreἔκραξαν cried outλέγοντες sayingΚύριε, Lord,ἐλέησον have mercy onἡμᾶς, us,υἱὸς SonΔαυείδ. of David. 32  καὶ Andστὰς having stoodtheἸησοῦς Jesusἐφώνησεν sounded toαὐτοὺς themκαὶ andεἶπεν saidΤί Whatθέλετε are YOU willingποιήσω I should doὑμῖν; to YOU? 33  λέγουσιν They are sayingαὐτῷ to himΚύριε, Lord,ἵνα in order thatἀνοιγῶσιν might be openedοἱ theὀφθαλμοὶ eyesἡμῶν. of us. 34  σπλαγχνισθεὶς Having been moved with pityδὲ buttheἸησοῦς Jesusἥψατο touchedτῶν of theὀμμάτων opticsαὐτῶν, of them,καὶ andεὐθέως immediatelyἀνέβλεψαν they saw againκαὶ andἠκολούθησαν followedαὐτῷ. to him.
